I am 68 yr old female, my husband passed away 4 yrs ago, my son, who has Autism, lives with me and will for the rest of my life. I went back to school to get a degree in phychology, since I have volunteer with casa for many years, the courts and CPS know me, I felt it would be a line of work that my foot would already be in the door, which was an concern because I would not have a lot of time left to be in the work force. Hopefully 12 years or so. I am on ss +ssi and only receive $700 amonth, not enough to leave anything for my son.

As a on-line student, I could set my own time. I strated 8/31/09, with pal grant and grant, the first problem began when a book I had ordered became back ordered. I asked to receive a used book, but when I got it,there was no code to get to site that was needed to do the work. The teacher could not understand what the problem was. I got charged for that class because I did not drop out in time. You only have3 weeks, it took longer then that to find out there was a problem that was not solvable.

The next problem came when they charged me for a class I did not take and had given me an F. I found this out while I was trying to fix the 3rd problem "details next paragraph" I had called to take a leave of two weeks when I was having eye surgery. It was "ok'd" but then  the class I was suppose to take was marked incomplete  and I was charged
for it and got another-F. (English Comp 2)  I did'nt  know  untill # 3 problem arose.

This is the big one.{History 221} Another imcomplete and F- but this time I had copys of my work on hand, if there was a incomplete it was because the teacher did not turn in the work. I called, and was told that I would have just 5 wks total to file a complant. I was under the impression, from that phone call, that they were going to send me some
forms, when I didn't, I began to email. I got an email  back saying the the person I was working with would be out for a few days. So I faxed the info and my class work to her. I was still in that 5 wk time. She said she would turn it in and we should have a answer in a few days.

I have been trying to work with them for 9 mo now and still have not gotton an answer. My grants are sitting with them, I can't get my records, they keep making promises but then don't follow thro. AND now I am getting calls from a bill collecter. I have to have courses completed before I can work, no work, no money to pay back stundent loans. I am in limbo and wasted my time, money, and 3 yrs my my life. I saved much of the emails if anyone wants to see how 9 months of trying gets you no where.

My gpa was over 3.0 when this all began, now it is showing at 2.07. and I did NOT earn even one of those F,s

GCU Response Is Truely Sad!!

It is interesting that GCU monitors this site, just enough to act like they are trying to resolve issues. In reality, no one is actually getting any type of resolution. My transcripts have been held up by GCU for over a year and a half after I graduated, because I was "told incorrectly" by my academic adviser, that I qualified for a "scholarship". After I finished the class with an "A", I was told I actually still owed $1400!!! Watch out!!! They refuse to even try to work anything out!!
