I was lured into this scam when I heard a commercial regarding a sports betting service giving a free pick on a local sports show. They call themsleves Grant Sports Global. They say they are investors and not gambler, but really they are neither. They are con men.
You call and get a free pick, but they say if you want the really good pick you pay $99, which I did. Then if your lucky your pick will lose, but my didnt'. It won. So I was up $1000 and feeling good about it. Then they started talking to me and were very impressed and that I had the qualities they were looking for in their organization. Then they had me talk to another guy who was supposedly higher up in the organization. And they offered me a spot. They promised literally millions of dollars. The implied they were paying off players. But they wanted a very high fee, as well as ongoing so I refused. Then they called back a few days later and gave me a free pick. They said to bet very high and if I didn't I would seriously regret it.
I took their pick and bet $25,000 and it won. I am retired with fairly substantial pool of money for investment, tand I guess I'm a little bored. All of this was very exciting and I got caught up. At this point I was up $26,000. I spoke to them again and this time agreed to pay them half of their flat fee which was $50,000 (total $100,00) and they would give me the picks on an ongoing process. On the next pick it was agreed that I would pay them the other half of the fee from the winnings. I bet $75,000 and unbelievably I won. I paid them the other $50,000 and was now up about $50,000 myself. The next pick I laid out $100,000 which they would receive 35% commission upon my winning. This time I rolled craps. Now I was down $50,000. They said it was a fluke and would never happen again. Then encouraged me to bet the farm on the next one which I did and lost $200,000.
Now I was down a quarter or a million.
The way the scam works is the give one mark one side of the bet and another mark the other side of the bet so that they are always guranteed a winner. Eventually you lose a couple times and wise up, so they have to look for other recruits.
When they have you wire the money it goes to: Phoenix advisory services, to Chase Bank to and address in Amityville New York.

This is an update to the aforementioned complaint
Please note that all of the picks that I was given by Grant Sports Global were winners. I am a novice sports bettor and didn't understand the diffence between the money line and point spread. The reason for my losses was that I was betting money line when I should have been betting the spread and vice versa. Grant Sports has genorously made me whole and covered my losses. I guess they felt sorry for this old man. They wont do business with me now because they say I lack the sophistication they require. I can't say that I blame them and I'm just glad they took pity on me.
