Elisabeth purchased the smokeless ashtrays and choose UPS as the carrier. She lives in Canada and in the past has purchased using USPS as the carrier, which tends not charge duties as frequently as UPS. When the ashtrays arrived, she refused to pay duties!! She tried every way possible to deny responsibilty but as everyone knows, (and as clearly spelled out in 'Customer Service') if duties are charged by your country they are always the responsibility of the recipient, not the shipper. Elisabeth tried to make us pay for her Canadian duties which we obviously don't do. At this point in order to have the shipment returned back to us due to Elisabeth's refusal to pay duties, we would now have to pay for the return shipment from Canada back to us. We went so out of our way to accomodate her, that in lieu of the fact the Canadian duties charged were entirely her issue, when UPS destroyed the merchandise because of her continual refusal to pay the duties, we sent her another package USPS FREE OF CHARGE!! We believe the customer is always right and accomodated her as such, in light of the fact that she simply didn't comprehend that international customs and duties are not the responsibility of the shipper. All has been rectified as customer service prevailed. I eventually received the original shipment with a further cost of $9 U.S. for shipping of same. I am satisfied with the outcome.
