Since my last update, I have organized a community coup-de-tat, in which all of my friends and neighbors are now frequenting the new Super Walmart for our grocery pleasures, banning Greenwald completely from our lives. Hopefully our actions in addition to the WalMart monopoly will send Greenwald to bankruptcy and thus removal from our little town! I'll expect to see Benji at the unemployment line someday soon!

As an update to my aforementioned report ... I made a rare appearance at Greenwald yesterday to prepare for my family's bi-annual pig pickin, as we needed some pork and chitlins as well as other gourmet delicacies. Well, color me surprised when I arrived at the check-out lanes and Benji was back working again! And after the store management assured me that he had been fired for trying to rip me off on my collard greens I purchased and threatening me. I was flabergasted to say the least. Anyone have any advice as to what action I should take at this point? To see him working in that environment again is one step backward for mankind!

It has been quite a long time since this incident but it remains fresh in my mind. Benji's and the other workers' comments were indeed racist as he attempted to discount my ethnicity and make themselves appear superior to me. They were absolutely disgusting individuals destined to reign in their white-power regime. I am just an old, feeble gentleman of African-American descent, trying to buy some collard greens to cook up with my fried chicken and watermelon. I shall be forever distressed by my treatment that day. This is supposed to be America, land of the free, where all men shall be created equal! To be treated so poorly and even be threatened by the store clerk who wanted to pee in my hair, makes me wonder if this is not worse than being a slave like my grand-pa-pa in the olden days.

I am part Irish and I don't eat collard greens, but my rescued domestic rabbits do and I purchase them often. And to the employee who comes across as a racist and not a very bright one, customers are paying your salary. If you think I would go into a store and pay for something I wasn't actually getting, you are wrong.

Jammison you have to be by far have to win the award for most ignorant rebuttal. To gather enough info from the post about the corrupt weighing practices of the Greenwald grocery store to know that the person is of "ethnic" nature must make you psychic. The person did not state their race. It's incredible that you would think that Benji is telling the truth. He got fired! He was basically stealing from the store. Eating something that you have not paid for is theft. So add to the list of Benji's stellar personality quirks are liar, theif, and bully. You must be close friends with him. The fact of the matter is if the person buying the greens was "ethnic" or not, the money they spend in the store goes to for things like paychecks. So "ethnic" or not people like you(I am assuming you work there since you know so much about Benji's employment or lack their of) had better hope that people do not stop shopping there or you will be out of a job. By the way, I am not "ethnic" and I enjoy greens a great deal. So you ignorant Irish mick(judging from your name) have another shot of whiskey and keeping on believing the bull spoon fed to you by the sorry excuse for parents you have.

Does the health department know about Benji's threat to you? In the state of Alabama it is illegal for someone to intentionally expose another to one's bodily fluids. Making such a threat is considered criminal. Also did you contact the department of weights and measures about the inaccurate weighing of your greens?

Yes, I have already explored such avenues such as restraining orders and suing for punitive damages. It seems unlikely however, since the checkout boy is not stalking me. All this happened in the store and did not continue after I left. I may try to sue for public humiliation, pain and suffering, and undue embarrasment. In the meantime I have contacted the corporate offices and have gotten nowhere. This store seems to prey on its customers and could not care less if people are unsatisfied with their store. Also, when I was in there last week, Benji was still working there! He was never fired! Sad story indeed ... I cannot believe that this store will keep people working there who harass their customers and threaten to pee in the hair and beat them up! :-(

You were treated very poorly, and to think that the worker threatened to pee in your hair totally grosses me out. Why not take action against the store? Contact your local weights and measures, and inform them of the inaccurate weighing of your produce. Also contact the police and discuss possible avenues for dealing with the cashier's threatening remarks. Perhaps you could take out a restraining order, or take him to court for pain and suffering and pewnitive damages. The ball is in your court. Run with it! Keep us posted how it goes.

so, Pony boy, how can anyone believe your claim when you state you are from Pony, Alabama? There is no such place. Since you are a troll, be a smart troll and at least go to Map quest and find a place that really exists.

How mature of the store representative to shout racist remarks at the customer, Peter. What ever happened to free speech and equality of all men? Are men in Alabama still judged by the color of their skin? I smell a rotten rat here! Racism has got to stop, especially at public places like stores.

When I heard of your report, I had to check it out. you will be happy to hear that Benji was fired. not because of your story. he denied that what you said ever happened, and as you know the store is alwyas right. but he was fired from eating cookies off the shelf without paying. Whether that happened or not, we are tired of people of your kind coming into our store. Go find yourself an ethnic food store and maybe you won't have issues with the staff. and maybe our stock of collards and watermelon will not be depleting so fastly!
