Well to my great and happy surprise, the Groupe Ecotherme and Guy Rioux have fixed all of our problems ahead of the 31 August deadline. My wife and I are very pleased of the outcome and have found that Guy Rioux was very cooperative in the end as he realised the extent of the damages and issues. It did take a lot of yealing, writing and complaining to achieve satisfaction, but nevertheless all is now well in Ste-Dorothee.
However, those other Quebecers who have faced heartless and worthless contrators should address their issues on the Rip-Off Report and not be so tolerant of incompetent and ruthless individuals as are so easily found in the construction industry.
All our thanks to the Rip-Off Report for allowing us to vent our frustrations and get some action done.
Cheers,
James and Catherine

Well, it looks like all will soon be fixed and I must admit that my contractor surprised both my wife and I. He called upon a building engineer, whom we had previously called upon, to find and provide a means to fix the water infiltration. The secondary source of water infiltration was quickly found, as M. Ren Vincent B.Eng. is the Columbo of home inspections, and a solution provided. Guy Rioux also agreed to fix the water infiltration in the garage by adding an outside rain drain, as well as fixing the consequences of the water infiltrations in the house; flooring and ceiling. He will also fix opened joints, the roofing and other small issues. All should be completed by the end of August, or else the warranty corporation will follow suit.
Wherein the shower is concerned, Tapis Pro-fil, the Rip-Off Report should have an idiot sub-section for bozos like this one, has done another patch-up job, but if this one does not work and damage reoccurs within the next six months, Tapis Pro-fil will have to re-build the entire shower since it does not respect the spacing requirements for tiles.
However and this must be dully noted, all the work is not yet completed and that 10 months have gone by since we initially brought these problems to Guy Rioux's attention. Nevertheless, he is now willing to have the whole place fixed and we are confident that he will do so...but things do have the tendancy to go wrong in Quebec's construction industry; maybe some day the governments will forego on turning a blind eye to construction and enforce laws to avoid the build-it-and-run routine, which has not occured in this case, but has been the basis of too many horror stories. In the meantime, we wish to thank M. Beausoleil, M. Ren Vincent and M. Daniel Denis for their cooperation.

Guess what? The Guy Rioux Groupe Ecotherme have moved a little bit lately, but have yet to fix any of the problems that I had previously mentioned. We called upon the warranty company Quality Habitation to inspect our home and validate the claims we had against this incognito contractor, never calls, avoids contacts, well you know the spiel...cashed his 300 000$ check and bye bye, he is out of here. Anyways, he forsaw some bad stuff coming down the line so he asked an inspector to come in from Qualite Habitation, which is an association of contractors to protect contractors. They investigated our claims on the faulty shower (tiles), the water seeping in all over the place, the water coming in the garage because it is too low as opposed to the street and thus requires a drain, and the other little things so as disappearing roofing and guess what, Qualite Habitation came back with a report that basicaaly agreed with all the problems that were related to sub-contractors and none of those related to the contractor, water coming in the garage. Therefore, be weary of Qualite Habitation, but I will keep you all posted.
