I recently attempted to utilize my account with Gunbroker.com which I have had for at least seven years. The website required that I update my contact address and billing information for a fee of $1.00 which I paid via credit card. Their automated database then informed me that my identity could not be confirmed and that an additional $2.00 fee was required to accomplish this. Once again I paid this fee with my credit card. Their database system then informed that it still could not validate my identity. I contacted their supposed "customer service and/or support" department and was informed (in a very rude manner) that they could not establish my identity and that they would require an additional $2.00 fee for each automated attempt with no other attempt at resolution of the issue being offered. I informed them that if their automated systems are deficient it should not be the fault of the customer and that I wished my account to be closed. This process transpired over the period of a week.
I find their customer service to be apathetic and unresponsive to their customers and their fees for account management to be nothing more than a means to generate profit. I recommend not selling or purchasing items through Gunbroker.com as an on-line auction house. At least not until there is a positive customer service philosophy paradigm shift.
