I recieved a notice on March 10 of 2004 that my roomate and I were to vacate are apartment by March 12 of 2004 due to excessive noise, traffic, etc...

I had spoke to the manager regarding are rent money because we had paid a full months rent and only stayed in the apartment for seven days. The manager then told me that she would refund the full amount of rent but it would take approximately 30 days. I waited over 30 days to recieve my refund and it never came so I called the manager of the apartment and she replied that we wouldn't be recieving any refund due to damages in the apartment. I believe rent money is used for rent and security deposits are used for any damage left behind in the apartment. Which they did mot ask for(security deposit) prior to moving in.

Now today, May 11, 2004, more than two months later, I recieve a bill in the mail from a collection agency regarding Hampton Green Apartments for exactly $228.34. Saying that I owe this money due to damages left in the apartment. I believe I owe them nothing and they are just trying to get as much money as they can out of us because we are 18 years of age, this was our first apartment and they think we are young and ignorant. But there wrong.
