Harlequin Treats, Walter Hoving, Walter Haack, Susan Haack The con artist stole my money and made empty promises...and I am not alone! Chicago Illinois
This report was filed with this website a couple of years ago. Apparantely, Mr. Hoving paid ComplaintRemover to remove it from this site. I hope that he paid them a lot of money, because it is going back on! The following was poster in 2004:
On 11/13/2003, Mr. Hoving, General Manager of Harlequin Treats Limited, stated by phone that he would sell me an antique art print by the artist Renoir for the sum of $6800. On 12/5/2003 Mr. Hoving emailed me with a deal to also purchase a print by the artist van Gogh for $24000. Mr. Hoving advised me by phone that I needed to put $10000 down for both prints in order to receive them. Credit card payments totaling $4800 were made to Harlequin Treats, Ltd., and a check for $5200 was made out to Walter Hoving.
Since that time, I have received nothing from Mr. Hoving or Harlequin Treats. Over several months I repeatedly asked him to deliver the artwork, and he always has excuses. One of the excuses he used was that his mother-in-law had diedtwice! He has lied and has even cursed at me over the phone.
On June 6, 2004, I gave him a written deadline of July 1 to deliver the prints or a full refund. I then filed a complaint with the Chicago BBB. Mr. Hoving never responded to the BBB's inquiry. More recently, I filed a complaint with the Illinois State Attorney General's office, the FTC, and the Dept. of Consumer Services in Chicago. I have email documentation and have hired an attorney.
Update posted in in 2005- Mr. Hoving asked me to update my initial complaint, because it was hurting his business, and we had agreed that he would pay me back $200.00 per month until his debt was paid in full. Mr. Hoving stopped making payments. He can not be trusted! He lies, makes excuses, and gets angry if I demand my money! NEVER do business with Mr. Hoving or his wife, Susan Haack! On to Court!
Current update - In 2006 I won in court, but have yet to collect. See other complaints on Mr. Hoving (alias Haack) on the internet. Stay away from him!
