HCTRA Harris County Toll Road Authority Toll Road SCAM!! Houston Texas
I received two invoices, one from harris County Toll Road Authority and one from Fort Bend County TRA. They both use the same cutomer service so both invoices were addressed when I called to clear up my issues with these invoices.
One invoice had 3 toll charges of $0.65 each with an additional fee of $5 EACH! The other had 3 different fees totaling $4 with an additional $11 EACH! When I called to clear up these invoices I was told that there was a 3rd older invoice that had already went to collections and was now up to $75 and eas required to be paid in full! I never received any other invoice and they admitted that the invoice was incorrectly addressed and they received it back.
They will not waive any fees once any invoice has 'gone to collections' or 'acquired 3rd party fees'. You do not need to be informed of owing anything for it to be sent up the line to collect more and more fees. This is a scam since you do not have any option when on the road to not use the road. I always pay cash at the booth when able, but these areas did not even give that option and you are automatically in violation if they have to send you an invoice.
