Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
The website I visited stated that I could try Net Detective for just $5 for a seven day trial period, if I was satisfied, they would then charge me $24 after the seven days were up.

After searching for several names and finding no information whatsoever, I emailed customer support to cancel this program after just 1 hour. I received this response:

"Hello Matthew,

There is nothing to cancel with your Net Detective order as the standard product is not a subscription. It is just a one-time charge and your purchase gives you lifetime access to the software with three years of updates.

Need more assistance? Our Customer Support Center is available 24 hours a day! You can get answers to product and technical support questions and, if the answer isn't available on-the-spot, you can contact us directly, where we'll respond during normal business hours. Here's the link: http://support.netdetective.net"

I then checked my account to find a charge of $24 and sent them this email:

"I asked to be unsubscribed from your service and I was told that I didn't need to and then you charge my account $24. I want my money back. Please."

This is the response I received:

"Hello Matthew,

Per your request, your Net Detective account has been cancelled and there will be no further billing. Please note that per the terms and conditions which you agreed to, no refunds are available for this subscription service.

There were a few more emails exchanged with the same outcome. This company refuses to refund my money and will not adhere to the "terms and conditions" that they expect their customers to live by.

Please, for your own good, do not give this company any of your personal or financial information. They WILL rip you off.

This was my latest email to this company (by the way, I am a Federal Employee, sorry I can't divulge the agency): 'I believe the terms said that I could cancel within seven days to avoid being billed more than the $5. I tried to cancel before the seven days were up and you guys said that I didn't need to. You will replace my money or I (and the Federal Employee Assistance Committee) will pursue this to the fullest extent allowed by the law. Your first email was misleading and the terms of the agreement clearly stated that I had seven days to cancel before being billed the full amount of $24. I just want my money back. Don't make this more difficult than it needs to be. I will not give up on this, because you are wrong!!!' This was their response: From: HDP Support [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Saturday, December 13, 2008 7:40 AM To: Matt XXXXXXXXXXXX Subject: RE: Unsubscribe 'Hello Matt, Our staff can't wait to be of assistance, so let's go over how to get in touch. Our support team stands by to assist you, and thank you for being our customer! Sincerely, Nilda S Customer Care Dot Com, Inc. Your support solution for HD Publishing Group http://support.hdpublishinggroup.com' Wasn't that so nice and professional? I responded with this: 'You can assist me by refunding the money that you took from me. I paid the $5 with no problem. Your service did not live up to the standards that you have claimed, so I requested that it be cancelled before the seven day trial period had ended. You failed to do so (which has been proven by the first email response) and then charged my account $24 which directly violates the written terms and conditions that you had posted.' And, this was their final response: 'Hello Matt, A refund has been submitted. If the charge was actually deducted from your account, a refund will be processed and it normally takes 5 to 7 business days for this credit to be applied back to your account. If this was just an authorization (pending charge), this refund will void that charge and nothing will be deducted from your account. If we can be of further assistance please let us know.
