I'm posting this report on behalf of my daughter Stephanie. I have been with her through this fiasco. My daughter went to Heartstrings Bridal to order a bridesmaid dress for an upcoming wedding she is Maid of Honor in WI.The other bridesmaid's ordered their dresses from a salon in WI. Lead time was 3 months. She picked the dress up and did not try it on until she got home. Once putting it on she was unable to get it zipped or hooked (even with help). She then set up an appointment with the seamstress and Jackie the manager that measured her for this fitting. I was at the fitting and when she put the dress on both Jackie and the seamstress where unable to get it zipped without damaging the dress. She took it off and was re-measured. At that time she apparently grew 1 1/2 inches in her bust and 2 inches in her waist/mid section. The seamstress evaluated the dress and said there was no way she could take out the dress as much as needed. Alterations would run as much if not more than ordering another dress. Jackie (manager) then said she would need at least 2 sizes bigger.

To me it was an apparent measuring error on her part. One size is understandable but two sizes is questionable. The Jackie then proceeded to tell Stephanie that she had gotten bigger. Steph continues to where the same street clothes and business attire for her job but Jackie (manager) was insistent that she had gotten bigger in 3 mos. Seamstress said she will have to lose at least 20 pounds to fit into this dress.

Jackie proceeded to tell us that she would not pay for a new dress or make any compensation to this obvious sizing error. Jackie could order another dress and charge Stephanie 30% less than the first one. It was the "Best" Jackie could do. I tried to reach the owner of the salon Jennifer Johnson and Jackie took my number but assured me that Jennifer would back her position in this matter. I told Jackie that as a courtesy, Jennifer should call but if in fact it was the same position Steph and me would proceed with the BBB. Also e-mail our friends, family and co-workers as to the service provided or not provided at this bridal salon.

I finally got a call from Jennifer Johnson the owner on Monday the following week and she supported Jackie's position and used the word "never" several times in our conversation. I knew then we would not get this corrected. They simply would "never" admit to any wrong doing. I was also informed by Jennifer that the BBB could do nothing because Stephanie signed off on the measurements taken by Jackie. I would think as others that they were correct measurements and sign off to get the dress ordered. But we have not a leg to stand on because of her signature on the incorrect posted measurements.

The Client (Stephanie Ratz ) came into Heartstrings Bridal on February 28, 2008and was measured for a bridesmaid dress Style Number was Jordan 116 In Cinnamon it was determined by her measurements that she was a size 16 and the order was written up. Stephanie and Jackie, our manager looked at her measurements and the size chart from the manufacturer and Stephanie decided to order a size 16. When the dress arrived and Stephanie had tried it on she called to say that the dress was too small. We told her to bring the dress back in and that we would measure it to see if the manufacturer had sent the wrong size. Stephanie brought the dress in on June 19, 2008 we measured the dress and the measurements were correct. We then re-measured Stephanie. This is when we determined that her measurements now were 1 1/2 larger in her bust and 2 larger in her waist. At that point the bridesmaid (Stephanie) even made the comment I must have gained weight. The claim was that we measured Stephanie incorrectly. However, it would be very difficult to measure someone too small. Can you imagine having a tape measure pulled 2 too tight around your waist? You would be VERY uncomfortable. As a courtesy, Heartstrings Bridal even offered at ordering a new dress for Stephanie at 50% off even though we were not negligent, however Stephanie declined that offer. In conclusion, Heartstrings Bridal was not negligent in any form. The client received the dress size that she had ordered
