Still waiting on check... Was told by the company that sold me the warranty that diagnostics are usually covered too. I'm assuming I'll have to call and spend a number of hours for a third time, but we'll see.

You are being stalled, probably in the hope that you will give up and go away. Continue to press for your promised benefits (or a full refund of premium) and make a lot of noise while doing so. Hard to say when you should pursue small claims court. Extended warranties are a waste of money. They give a false sense of security but usually the premium is more than the actual covered-repair benefits. if you ever collect those benefits. Maybe you now know to skip all extended warranties in the future and only buy cars/trucks with high reliability ratings per Consumer Reports (April issue). Meanwhile, why don't you check the "Edmonds Field Guide to Automotive Weasels" ?
