Complaint Review: HFC/HSBC - Baltimore Maryland

I would urge anyone who is thinking about getting a loan through this company to STOP turn around and walk away! They are very disrespectfull.

It all started for us back in 2002. We were in the process of refinancing with HSBC, we were told it would take only 2 weeks, and not to make any payments to our other mortgage co. because it would be a waste of money.

Then the closing was delayed for almost 2 mos. At that time we had no choice but to continue the closing with hsbc. The day of the closing was a mess, the whole loan was different, the interest rate was much higher, there was a 3 yr. prepayment penelty, (there wasn't supposed to be one). We called them from the lawyers office, (who we had to pay 500.00 for), and the home office at hsbc told us that it doesn't matter what the good faith estimate says, it's what they bring to the table at closing! If you don't like it don't sign! While my wife and I went outside to talk about this unfortunate situation, hsbc called our lawyer for the closing and told him not to suggest anything to us, to be quiet and that he was not there to give us any advice he's only there to witness the signing. He told us that and thought it was very strange, that had never happened to him before. So after 3 yrs. of making high F-------- payments, we tried again to refinance with a different company, we went through the paperwork, paid the appraisal fee got a better rate, 500.00 mo. less, no prepayment peneltys, hsbc would not give up any information to the new mortgage company, we needed to have the loan done in 30 days to keep the rate, hsbc told us and the mortgage company that all info had to be send regular mail that would take 30-60 days because they had no faxing capabilities. What a crock,...

So the deal never went through, hsbc screwed us again!!!!!!!!

2 yrs later new mortgage company same deal. pay again for a appraisal $350. new company said we had to finish the work we had stated in upstairs bathroom in order to get the loan, cost $5000.00, We did it! hsbc once again would not give up any info and again said no faxing, we were screwed again!

Now over the summer 2008 we got behind in payments about $3500.00 and they told us about a program we could get into that would help us out. we wanted to set up payment arrangements to get caught up over the next 2 mos. They said NO, because if we sent them any $$$ it wouldn't help out the situation it would just be a waist of our $$$. We started the paperwork for the hardship program Get This back in August 2007, by FAX, for the first 2 weeks they claim they never got any of the paperwork, we called several times making sure we had the right #, they insisted it was and that we were to stupid to fax paperwork. We were told it was his personal fax machine that he has used for 2 yrs. After several calls and no return calls back, talking to several other people and explaining our situation every time, we finally found out there is no personal fax, it's used by the whole office and Get This the number was wrong the whole time. The number went to a pet store in Chicago. We only found that out because the pet store called the store where we were faxing from and asked why we were sending them this stuff. Crazy.. I know, but true... Finally got the right number, so we started faxing all the info again, we kept calling. no one answers the phones, no call backs, weeks later we finally got a hold of someone we were told they did not get all of the info, Fax again!!, days pass, call back, they lost everything!!, fax again,, Bullshit huh!!, this goes on for weeks, faxing, missing stuff, faxing them loosing it , faxing again... finall got a hold of someone, on a Monday in October 2007, they told us our house is being sold on Friday (4 days later) reason: they claim they never received our paperwork. So because we were never notified of the sale they had to stop it. Now the faxing begins again, this goes on from Aug. 2007 to present, Feb. 2008. New date of foreclosure is set for Feb. 27, 2008, and we are still trying to save our home, the faxing nightmare continues and they are trying to charge us 11,000 for lawyer fees, 10,000 for back payments, over 700. in late fees, 500. filing fees and other charges for "other fee's". What a scam!!!! the company sucks big time.

If and when you are able to talk to someone there they are totally rude and demean you. they say why don't we just pay up the 20,000+ now and we wont have to worry anymore. I can't wait to be rid of them. somehow???
