Complaint Review: Hog Barn Customs - Menomonie Wisconsin

While I believe the owner of HBC knows a ton about Harleys I believe that he does not know how to run a business. He defrauded my father out of $800 in sweatshirts with no intention of ever paying for them. The check he wrote bounced and continued to bounce for the last three months. This type of dishonesty makes me believe that the original poster may be correct. There were countless promises of payment for sweatshirts that were delivered but in the end no type of payment was ever recieved from HBC. If you are willing to rip off a small family business out of $800 you are probably willing to rip off your customers as well. I understand that HBC is now out of business so none of this really matters that much.

I more than anyone should have feelings of anger towards this man. He is my ex and has done me wrong more than once. But as for his business goes, he stands behind everything HE does. The owner of Hog Barn Customs knows a Harley better than most parents know their children. He did NOT forget to put primary oil in the bottom end. Do you really think a motorcycle would have made it all the way from Wisc. to Cali and most of the way back if their wasn't primary oil in it? And I also know that he did NOT say "bring me the bill" as "bring me the bill and I'll pay for it" it was "bring me the work order and we'll see what was wrong with it". The motorcycle was in another state. How was he suppose to say over the phone one way or another? AND at the time of that conversation, no one really knew for sure what was wrong with it. Let's just say for arguements sake that he didn't put oil in it. Wouldn't something have happened say, here? When 'Still Mad' picked up his bike, he was informed to put on some miles at home before taking it across country. Taking it all that way on a new motor is not good for it. Could that have been the cause of all his problems? We'll never know. Sometimes you need to tweak something to get it just right. Any true "Hog Owner" can tell you that. Getting your motor rebuilt isn't always like driving away in a new car. Be nice if it was but that's not reality! He picked up his bike, rode it and didn't have any problems. Only after he traveled all the way to the other side of this beautiful country and most of the way back, did he say something was wrong. What?? I don't think so! If you want quality work and quality care, you take it to the best. That is Hog Barn Customs in small town Menomonie, WI. Sad but true, what you all love is something I hated...Best prices too. So for the handful of folks that asked if you'd recommend HBC and you told them no, I feel bad for them cause you just cost them a lot of money and their Hogs are not in the best hands. And for the person(s) who recommended HBC to you, bet their happy with their bikes, aren't they?! Like I said in the beginning of this, he IS my ex but I promise you that my bike will never be touched by another mechanic. I value my baby too much to have any ol' mechanic at some botique working on it.

WE REBUILT THIS DUDES MOTOR FROM THE GROUND UP. IT WAS A PILE OF SCRAP WHEN IT CAME IN. WE INSTALLED NEW FLYWHEEL,RODS,CAM,LIFTERS,OIL PUMP,EVRYTHING THAT IS A MOVING PART IN THAT MOTOR WAS NEW. HE CAME TO PICK UP THE BIKE AND CALLED US ABOUT A WEEK LATER AND TOLD ME THE OIL LIGHT WAS COMING ON. ANYONE WHO KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT HARLEYS KNOWS IT SHOULD IDLE ABOVE 1000 RPM IF IT IS A EVOLUTION. IT IDLED AT 7OO. NO WONDER THE OIL LIGHT WAS ON! ABOUT SIXTY DAYS LATER HE CALLED BACK AND TOLD ME IT HAD A OIL LEAK UNDER THE PRIMARY CASE. I TOLD HIM TO BRING IT BACK AND I WOULD INSTALL A NEW O-RING ON THE PLUG FOR THE DRAIN ON THE PRIMARY. HE NEVER CAME BACK..NO CALLS NO NOTHING. THEN THE GUY RIDES IT ACROSS THE CONTRY! TO MONTANA FROM WI. HE TAKES IT TO A SHOP AND THEY HAD NO CLUE WHAT WAS WRONG. ALL THE OIL LEAKED OUT OF THE PRIMARY AND THE CHAIN WAS RUNNING DRY. SO THE SHOP IN MONTANA STARTED THROWING PARTS AT THE BIKE. THEY WROTE A LETTER FOR THE GUY SAYING AND THIS IS A QUOTE."UPON INSPECTION OF HIS MOTORCYCLE WE FOUND HIS PRIMAY CASE HAD NO FLUID. THE LACK OF FLUID DAMAGED THE CAM GEAR AND LIFTERS.THE CUSTOMER ASKED THAT I WRITE A LETTER STATING THE PROBLEM AND THE COST OF THE REPAIRS.IT WILL COST APPROXIMATLY $1050.00 TO REPAIR THE DAMAGES." NOW I AM ONLY 39 BUT I AM SMART ENOUGH TO KNOW THE PRIMAY FLUID HAS NOT ONE THING TO DO WITH THE CAM GEAR! WHEN I CALLED THIS LADIES BOSS ABOUT THIS LETTER HE LAUGHED AND SAID "I CANT COMMENT ON THAT" I AM THINKING HE KNEW SHE SHOULD STICK TO SELLING CLOTHES. AS FAR AS SETTLING WITH THIS GUY IT WAS BETTER THAN LISTENING TO HIM WINE ABOUT IT. SO THERE YOU HAVE IT. I TOLD HIM TO BRING IT BACK TO INSTALL A TEN CENT O-RING,BUT INSTEAD HE RODE IT.
