We hired this company to add an extension to our master bathroom.  It was to be a 6ft extension with replacing the vanties, shower, flooring, built in's for the closet.  We met Don Jones of Home Works of Houston and he presented himself well, stating that he was a christian and he believed in making his customers happy.  We thought, great, we found a good general contractor.

He told us that the job would take 6-8 weeks.  We could live that long using the guest bathroom so we agreed and signed the paperwork.  The cost would be $28,491.00.  So they started work.  Well the job lasted 7 months.  I believe it lasted this long because there were many days we came home and they never showed up that day.  This went on for many days during the weeks they were there.  One of the workers put his foot through my bedroom ceiling.  I had to make them patch it 3 times before it looked halfway decent, and it still isn't right as you can see the square where it was patched.  One wall in the bathroom was wavy and they textured and painted it that way!  We told them this would not fly that they had to redo it.  They did.  We had to make them redo all of the texture on the every wall as in some place it was too thick in other places it was too thin.

Don Jones showed us several samples of tile for the shower.  We picked one out and they installed it.  When we inspected it, the tile points (as it was in a diamond shape) were not matching up and was sticking out, even on the shower floor.  We could have cut our feet it was that sharp.  We told him you need to redo this, as it was not matching up on the actual shower walls.  It was not flush against the wall, it was up and down.  He said ok, then came back a week later after his worker tore out the tile and said, "I can't get that tile any longer".  We asked, well what are we suppose to do?  He said he had other options and brought over more samples.  We picked one and they installed that.  We bought the Oil Rubbed Bronze fixtures for the shower and he painted the shower drain with Oil Rubbed Bronze paint, although he had to redo that because the first time it was peeling.

I have a claw foot tub and I told him I wanted the Oil Rubbed Bronze fixture for it so it would match.  My old one was chrome.  He installed the "Oil Rubbed Bronze" fixture @ a cost of $762.00 for just the fixture.  After 7 months of horrible workmanship, I wrote my last payment to him at which time he presents me with a "final bill" which included a price of over $500 for replacing the tile.  I told him I am not paying for that.  The error was your worker as he did not install the original tile we chose correctly.  He said that we changed our mind on the tile.  I can't believe he would lie to both my husband and I, when clearly this was his fault.  So, I cut my check to him and said this bill is paid in full.

Not 5 months after the job was completed, my husband noticed that the base boards in his closet was warped and peeling.  The sheetrock was soft.  After tearing out the sheetrock (which is behind the shower) there was mold everywhere.  I immediately called Don. told him about the problem and asked that he get someone over here immediately as we were breathing this mold.  He said he was out of town and could not get someone there.  Finally after a week he comes to my home, looks at the shower faucet and says it's a faulty valve.  He said that since we bought the shower fixtures, it was on us.  Ok, I said, if that is it we will have to eat the cost of fixting the sheetrock, baseboard, painting, etc..  This was a brand new shower fixture we bought and could hardly believe the valve was faulty.  I called a licensed plumber and he took off the faucet and said here is your problem, they did not tighten the valve.  So after calling Don and telling him that he needed to replace the sheetrock, baseboards, etc.... he finally came over and fixed it, after 3 weeks.

I take baths every night and notice paint chips floating in my bath water.  This $762.00 "Oil Rubbed Bronze" bathtub fixture he charged me for was peeling!!  I called him on it and he said he would have to get with the manufacturer and get another one.  By this time we were so frustrated with all of the many things (a lot that I have not listed) that have gone wrong, I told him what I thought happened.  I told him I really believe he took my old one and painted it.  He was outraged that I called him a liar.  I said ok, well then get another one and install it.  That is the last we have heard from him.  My pipes for the tub rattle when I turn on the shower that is attached to the fixture.  A lot more wrong, too much to list.

BE CAREFUL!  THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED TO ME AND IT CAN HAPPEN TO YOU!  BE WARY OF THIS COMPANY
