I'm in my BFF's wedding July 4, 2010.  I ordered my gown from HOB on May 1st 2010 as a rush order (additional cost) with dressed promised delivery 6-7wks... (EARLY-MID JUNE)

I thought it ODD that although my check had been cashed rather quickly, I had not recieved any confirmation on my order from HOB.  I called the phone number provided on their website to check status of your order. I was told (ONLY BECAUSE I CALLED THEM) that they would not be able to meet my event date and my order would be available in mid-late JULY!!!!!

Of course this absolutely UNACCEPTABLE as the wedding is JULY 4TH!! They then began to give me the run around telling me that I would be getting an email stating they will not be able to meet my event date and asking if I want an refund.  IF I DO... I then have to email this person back and REQUEST A REFUND!!!!! WTF???  And to add insult to injury the email finally came DAYS LATER (after I had to call and let them know that I still hadn't received it) I was insulted b/c Karen in her email suggested that I had lied about the wedding date....

EXTREMELY ANGRY AND DISAPPOINTED, I complied with their process.  It has now been almost a month and I STILL HAVENT RECEIVED MY MONEY BACK AND WHEN I CALL BACK TO INQUIRE ABOUT THE STATUS I'M REPEATEDLY TOLD THAT MY REQUEST WILL BE SENT TO ACCOUNTING OFFICE. This happens EVERYTIME I call!!

They WILL NOT provide a phone number to speak directly with anyone in their "accounting" dept.  They will not provide last names of managers.  I've been hung up on by their "customer service" reps.  These people are the ABSOLUTE WORST!!

WHY WOULD THEY ACCEPT PAYMENT ON AN ORDER IF THEY KNEW THEY COULDNT MEET MY SHIPMENT DATE??? They attempted to blame it on the designer saying that He (DESSY) IS BEHIND. Why is it I cant speak to a live person who knows WTH is going on with my money???

IDK about anyone else, but I dont have hundreds of dollars to just give to this company.  Whats worst is that I need the money back so that I can hopefully find the dress at a store somewhere close so I can buy it OFF THE RACK! (GROSS) :-((  They seem to be trying to keep the money.

I have the exact same situation.  Ordered my dresses last Friday after speaking with someone who assured me I'd have them in time for my April 30th event if I paid for rush shipping from the designer to the vendor and also pay for express shipping from HOB to my address.  I felt comfortable and placed the order.  I called and talked to someone on Tuesday and was informed I would not receive the dresses on time.  My order was almost $1400 and of course the money came right out of my account.  I've called the only number I can find at least 5-6 times a day 'leaving a message for a customer service rep'.  Who are the people answering the phone?  All they tell me is that they will send an urgent message to the CS department.  I have not received one call back.  I have even emailed [email protected] and [email protected] and have not received any emails back.  I don't know what to do, I can't afford to pay for all of these dresses.   I even called my bank today to inquire about a dispute.   Did you have any luck?

In the defense of House of Brides sometimes it's humanly impossible to fill orders that have a close wedding date as most of the dresses are made to order. However......

Since March 2008 Dale Buziecki has been delaying refunds.  Dale & Eva Buziecki are using consumers money as their personal line of credit.  Many consumers have never received a refund from these unscrupulous people.  Especially those that are over seas.

Many consumers have had to do charge backs in order to receive their funds.  One customer flew to Glen Ellyn, Illinois (corporate headquarters) from Georgia to demand her money.  House of Brides employees have expressed concern for their safety as one never knows if a customer will act on their threats of violence.  Eva Buziecki responds to such concerns by saying, don't worry the people in the store will be shot before they get to you giving you plenty of time to escape.

Karen Cole Schuster who wrote you an email asking if you want a refund will be of no help to you.  She has been working at House of Brides for a very long time and does know of and participates in the unscrupulous and possibly criminal practices at House of Brides.  Karen is just one of many scapegoats that House of Brides employs. By filing a complaint with the Department of Labor Karen may believe that she is protected.  Another characteristic of Karen Cole Schuster is that she loves a good fight.  If you are not interested in fighting you should not engage with Karen.

Again, House of Brides does not have an accounting department. When I worked there the website manager Joan Willems processed refunds. Until...the Buziecki's decided to store orders that required refunds in a locked office.  They just disappeared making it difficult for customer service staff to provide information to the customer regarding their refund.

Good luck getting your refund.  You may want to call Channel 2 News in Chicago and ask them for assistance.
