Oh boy folks, you MUST avoid Household Auto Finance! Look, I've read all the other stories here from people who have had bad experiences with Household Auto and most of them are from people who were late on payments, etc. I don't look down on anybody else, but when you're dealing with a company like this the WORST thing you can do is get behind.

Ironically, I've experienced the OTHER end of the spectrum. I've been on time and perfect with my payments from day one. Household Auto Finance has never had to call me to collect anything. But...

One of their big "sales pitches" is that if you continue to make timely payments they will work with you to lower your rate. Well I did and they lowered it once but I truly had to beg and grovel for it from a high level manager. That was a long time ago.

Fast foward to today: After still maintaining a flawless payment record, I went back and wanted another rate reduction. Heck, I've even paid early and extra principle every month for some time now. Household's reaction? In a sense, "go away and quit calling us... we still have you over a barrel and you're gonna keep paying through the nose... we gotcha!"

Think that's bad enough? I decided that I was tired of their ducking and dodging, so I put in a call to their President and CEO Walter Menezes.

His reaction? He first sent a letter saying he would not discuss it "at that time"... fine with me. I waited and after many MORE perfect payments, I decided I had let them wait long enough.

His latest reaction? Get this: I received a call (at dinner time, no less) from a man who claimed that he was with "corporate security" from Household and that he wanted me to quit calling. I laughed and told him to just put his concerns in writing.

I then faxed off another letter to President and CEO Menezes and gave him another opportunity to call and answer my questions. I also let him know that I would not be intimidated by harassing phone calls from his "corporate security" associates. I have been patient and courteous to them at all times, but I have been firm and persistent and will continue to do so.

If anything else develops I will post the details here. Wish me luck, please! These guys are getting nasty...
