HP , Hewlett Packard, Hewlett-Packard Company Installs obsolete components in *NEW* PCs Palo Alto California
I own a HP Pavilion DV9000t ew680av multimedia. The machine was purchased less than a year ago, brand new from Best Buy. Last month, the motherboard stopped working. While this was not what I expected out of a machine less than a year old, it did have a warranty.
I took the machine to an HP service depot where they confirmed the dead motherboard and contacted HP for a replacement part. Hp told them the motherboard was no longer available and there was no substitute part.
I took four phone calls to get HP to agree to replace the machine. Meanwhile, I purchased an identical, but newer machine into which I could my my hard drives and continue working. This machine is an DV9608nr and guess what, it has a dv9500 motherboard.
Gone are the day of the real Hewlett-Packard. Their consumer machines are mostly junk and old parts.
