H&R Block Online Tax Software Unrealiable software - support unhelpful and insulting Internet
I would urge consumers to avoid H&R Block online tax preparation software. The software made a $5000 error on our joint tax return. When I phoned support they were unable to figure out why the error was made. We had spent considerable time on the phone going over all the amounts that I had entered correctly. However, they suggested that if I paid extra money, they would make more of an effort to find the error. When I took exception to that idea, they adopted a very condescending "Well, next time you shoud read the terms and conditions more carefully!" tone and suggested that the error was my fault -- this after having been unable to figure out what the error was! They went on to suggest that I had probably made ammendments to my return after filing, ammednments that I just wasn't telling them about. To conclude, the message to me was, "Too bad there's an error. We don't make errors, so the error is your fault. And, since you're probably a liar, we can't be bothered. On the other hand, if you pay us some money..."
