HRS / Wickes Furniture fraudulent late fees and interest Wood Dale Illinois
We purchased furniture on a 18 mo sac (same as cash) promotion. The end date of the promo was in July 2003. In April 2003, we paid the account in full. The next month I received a statement for the accrued interest. I immediately sent a letter to them, highlighting the fact that the balance had been paid 3 mos PRIOR to the due date.
In response, I got a letter from them stating that I had "defaulted" on the sac promo by missing 2 months payment in a row! They even had the wrong year of purchase in the letter! When I tried to contact the individual who "signed" this letter, there seemed to be no one with that name. Or they just refused to transfer me. I did get the pleasure of dealing with an ignorant and RUDE customer servce rep, who I might add, had a very deep accent and was getting frustrated with me because I kept asking her to repeat herself! Good grief! She stated that I had missed 2 payments in August 2002. Such a bunch of crap! I sent them 3 checks between July and August! I have the cancelled checks to prove it.
I have seriously written at least 10 letters to them. I have given up on phoning because there is absolutely NO ONE you can talk to. Supervisors seem to not exist. These fools are sitting in some biosphere somewhere apparently. NOW, Wickes transferred their credit business to CitiBank and the nightmare continues. I have been denied 2 home equity loans because of not only HRS on my credit report, but now CitiBank as well. I am NOT paying this amount. And it totally sucks that really good people are being screwed by this company and NO ONE seems to give a d**n.
I quite frankly would prefer they stop prosecuting Martha Stewart and go after the REAl criminals in this country. And HRS would be one the tops in my book. Too bad Wickes hasn't done a d**n thing about this either...they have lost our business and anyone else I tell my story to as well. I hope they both choke!
