BestBuy rewards card (HSBC Bank)

Issues a consumer credit card that comes with a bill. Once you receive your statement it say you already have an "Annual Fee" charge on it.

It really is an activation charge and I would be so upset if they would just come out and say that.

The salesman(cashiers) are very insistent that you will not be charged for signing up for a card. But your statement show otherwise.

You can forget to argue your case with customer service because they will give you the runaround endlessly.

The saddest part of all is that this deliberate misleading/lying to customers is perfectly legal, completely dishonest, and there is nothing that can or will be done about it.

Don't ever sign up for another card.

I won't.

The credit application when you filled it out? The credit application disclosed the annual fee for the account to open. The best buy rewards program is a separate program that has no fee. You applied for a credit line through HSBC. When you filled out the credit application, the back or other paperwork with it should have disclosed the interest rate and the annual fees involved. No, an annual fee is not an activation fee. It is a fee that will be charged annually to a credit card. You will receive a credit card with the first annual fee on it that you will need to pay.
