This company recommened that I pay my credit card on the 4th of each month as thats when thay update their records. That was great as my due date was the middle of the month. They know I get paid the 3rd of the month. So they ( NOT ME ) changed the due date to the 1st of the month. Now I have late fees every month. They REFUSE to do anything about this. They can change the due date but it will be the same date from now on.

I have two credit cards, and Im going to keep it that way.  Everytime I find a better creditor, doing better business, Im transferring balances and closing the old accounts.  Look, I know my credit will take a hit, but not as much as my wallet in the long run.

Orchard bank doesn't charge monthly fees, their annual fee is low, customer service is pushy but friendly, interest rates startout reasonable, and they are quick to increase credit lines.  Im keeping them untill I can move up again.

So...thanks to the new credit card laws, all that small print will be in your face 12 font before you fill out an application.  Interest rates probably increase, but creditors will become more competitive for business.

Then don't use Orchard. If "Amex and Discover" do not charge late fees use them.

It's as simple as that and like the others have said any bank any card can change their terms all they have to do is notify you!

I had the same problem with hsbc and wrote to the US controller of the currency (occ) about it. within 2 weeks hsbc refunded my late fees and apologized. The Feds CAN help sometimes.

It is clearly writen on your statement the due date, there is NEVER a fixed date on credit cards, unlike a mortgage or car note.

So how many years you been retired? Do you draw your retirement and pension? I pay my debts intirely each month. This is just a new way for them to get an extra $39.oo each month. Why did all my other cards, Discover, AmX, not change their dates? Maybe their responsible companies trying not to rip off their customers.

You know that little booklet with the little fine print makes some good reading, somewhere in that mumbo jumbo there are terms that allow them to change just about anything at anytime, you agreed to this by using the card.

Also, many if not all credit card companies are changing the due date cycle to 21 days from 30 to speed up repayment, this is also in that little booklet.

"They know I get paid on the 3rd of the month"  I suppose you are the topic of discussion at the board meetings.  "They refuse to do anything about this"  What do you want them to do?  Change the entire banking system just because you get paid on the third?
