Ok, I am about to try the same thing, let's see what happens. As soon as I am done typing this, I will be paying off my Polaris Fusion 900 (which Polaris should have bought back from me because of the so many recalls they had on this sled-they offerred nothing for all my troubles), I am paying it off 23 days ahead of my next payment due date. I have called 2 times to see what the payoff amount is, and got the same answer both times. Further, I asked the rep at HSBC if there would be an interest due on the amt. (such as a daily interest) even though I am paying of the amount they are giving me. Both times the answer was "NO". Therefore I am expecting that the next bill should show zero $0.00 with no residual interest. I was willing to pay an extra amount to make sure there would be no residual interest, But the rep. said that is it, Just the payoff amount. "Ok", I said. I am writing this because I know how these companies work. As a matter of fact, several times when I paid my bill on the due date they told me it would be late if I did not subject myself to a rush payment fee of $15. I believe American Express was sued in a class-action suit on this exact issue a few years ago. Seems to me it's now HSBC's turn.

After fighting these people for over a year now, I have concluded that HSBC is a den of thieves. The complaints filed with the BBB go un-heeded and was just administratively closed today by them with no help what so ever. It is a shame that corporate entities get shielded by ripoff agencies such as the BBB. I did a little leg work and reviewed the total number of complaints from all of the BBB where HSBC has offices to find a little more than 4,000 complaints total. I requested the same info from the AG of those states and the FTC to find that HSBC has over 13,000 complaints nationwide regarding credit and deceptive practices. What really amazes me is that despite the huge number of complaints against this terrorist business is that they continue to have a good rating with the BBB and the AG and FTC refuse to do anything about this foreign company financially raping American taxpayers. I went ahead and filed a formal complaint against this company with the FTC and AG but at this point, believe it to be futile. Good luck to anyone who gets stuck dealing with this company.

I surrender. Called Monday and asked for a payoff quote. Was told $140.03. Paid on-line and recieved a bill today for $2.12. Spoke with 16 various reps since January 3rd, 2007 and got NOWHERE! This all started over a payment that was received late (mailed 10 days before due date) and a lost payment that they are still researching 2 months later. These people are in India and are supported by Iraq, Iran and Saudia Arabia. Please keep in mind that I paid them $6,891.00 on January 3rd of this year. Excerpt:Dear Valued Retail Services Customer, Thank you for your email inquiry dated 03/07/2007. Our records indicate that the first statement we sent to you was on 12/01/06. This statement reflected that balance on your account for your purchase made on 11/06/06, was $6,801.20. This amount was going to be valid through 12/26/06. The minimum payment on your account was $99.00 and this payment was equired by 12/26/06. The statement on 01/01/07, reflects that your payment of $99.00 was received 01/01/07 which was after the payment due date. Therefore, you where assessed a late fee. You where also assessed deferred finance charges of $67.66 and regular finance charges of $81.51. Please be advised, that when you make a purchase on the account finance charges are not included on your first month billing statement. This is done to give you an opportunity to pay the original balance in full. On the next billing statement, if the balance is not paid off we will add the finance charges from the date of purchase to the first statement date as deferred finance charges" and the "billed finance charges" will bill for the new month. This is the reason why you where assessed these fees on your January billing statement. The ending balance on this statement was $6,886.37. This balance was going to be good through 01/26/07. Please note that the 02/01/07 statement reflected that a payment of $6,801.20 was received on 01/03/07. This payment did not satisfy the total balance required on the account, therefore you where assessed finance charges for the month. A minimum payment of $88.79 was required 02/26/07 to pay of the balance. This payment was not made, so you where assessed a late and finance charges. As of today your account is past due. In order to bring your account current,a total payment of $99.77 is required by 03/26/07. If we receive this payment of $99.77 before or by 03/26/07, your account would be paid off. Should you require further assistance, you may contact one of our Customer Service Representatives at 1-800-280-0651. Sincerely, Jhoselin, Financial Terrorist.
