would be to read through your account terms and conditions. It should explain your banks policies alot better than I can offer. First, if the pending transaction is a check card transaction, the funds are placed on hold, meaning, those funds can not be drawn against for other debits. Your banks online account information may or may not show the funds in your account balance (I don't know how their online information is setup). The funds for the check card purchase remain on hold until the bank receives confirmation from the merchant for the transaction. Merchants process their transactions on varying schedules, so the hold on those funds could be days. Another pitfall is what the transaction is for. If a check card is used at a gas station, resturant, car rental, these establishments will place a hold on funds that is larger than what the actual cost may be. If another debit comes in that is more than your balance less any holds, you will be accessed an NSF. As for your registry, don't go changing it to match what is shown online. If you are entering each transaction when it is made, deducting it from your balance, and your balance is not in the negative, your registry should be what is accurate. Also keep in mind the banks funds availablity policies (again you should find those in your account terms and condition). Your direct deposit is available to draw againt on the day it posts (I will assume Friday). Check and cash deposits vary depending upon when the deposit was made, if using a teller or ATM. It gets pretty complicated. When you keep a register, date your deposit on the day it is avaialble to draw against, subtract your debits when you make them and deduct any ATM fees or account fees, you should have a far more accurate balance than you can get from your online account. Good luck.
