Alert! You must read below if you are considering the purchase of an Ice bear product. Buyer beware! Ice Bear vehicles (motorcycle trike) are of inferior quality, unsafe and can lead to expensive repairs and tragic accidents. The manufacturer/distributor will avoid and ignore any responsibility for the bad quality. Ice bear is the brand name of various motorcycle, trikes and scooters manufactured in China and distributed by Pacific Rim Int’l west Inc. The Company is headquartered in California and the officers are: CEO Liang Chang, Secretary Wen Yu CFO Lian Chang. On October 11, 2016 I purchased an Ice Bear Trike Zodiac PST300-19. A few days after receiving the Trike I went for a short ride. The Trike stopped working in the middle of the road. The mechanic that worked on the trike found that the carburetor was improperly assembled and the fuel pump had broken. Cost to repair was over $ 200.00.
A couple weeks later the fuel gage stopped working and while riding on the road the exhaust system fell in the middle of the road. I was lucky that the broken muffler did not hit the vehicles behind. According to the mechanic that fixed the Trike, “The exhaust was improperly mounted to the frame which led to it breaking”. Cost to repair $ 160.07. Now comes the scary part: A couple weeks after the break of the exhaust system, I took the Trike for a short ride. When I was returning home, the left rear wheel came off causing the Trike to roll over. I hit the pavement with my head, but my life was saved because I was wearing a helmet. However I ended with a major headache and body bruises. The wheel came off because one of the studs that holds the wheel broke. Upon examination of the broken stud and the damage it was determined that it was caused by faulty quality and bad design.
This should not happen especially to a two month old Trike. I provided the manufacturer and distributor with information that included pictures, written statements from the witness of the accident, statement from an engineer that inspected the broken parts and the wheel, statement from the mechanic that fixed and inspected the Trike. The manufacturer and the distributor refuse to recognize any responsibility and have decided to ignore my complaint and a request for them to correct the problem. Michael Yalaha, Florida
