Ice Cold Air in Zephyrhills gave my husband and estimate of $600 to fix the evaporator on our 1997 Dodge Caravan. The estimate took an hour to complete and they did not give us anything in writing. They said the repair would take one day. We brought the vehicle in to them on Friday morning 8/4. By 2pm Saturday the repair was still not complete. I was told that they had to stop the repair because of rain, then the first part delivered was wrong, then the second part was defective. The whole job needed to be started again. At 7pm it was completed. It cost $759.

We are giving this car to our daughter, a single mom of a 4month old and full time student. She takes it home to Holiday Fl that night. Two days later, the air is not blowing cold. The Ice Cold Air out near her house cannot help her. I call the one who did the repair here and they agree to see the car on the 10th of August. They say there is a freeon leak. They can fix it in a couple of hours. They do, supposedly.

My daughter takes a trip to West Palm Beach. When she returns 3 days later, the air again is not blowing cold. She brings it to the Ice Cold Air by her house and they tell her that she needs a new blower fan and rear evaporator, and that it is still leaking freeon. They also tell her that we should have been notified that these repairs would eventually be necessary. He quotes her $1100.

I call the Zephyrhills shop and am told by Val that the evaporators in these cars have a 100% fail rate!! Please note this information was not given to us prior to the original repair. He offers to fix it again for less than the Holiday Ice Cold Air, but nothing more.

Please keep in mind, this is an older car, everything works, new tires etc, just needed the air. We have no more money. Had we known that this fix would have not been successful the first time around we would not have done it and traded or sold the car for something else. Right now she is recharging the freeon which only lasts 2 weeks.
