Identity Sweep - Dante Marketing Advantage Auto Consumer Discount Network Seminole, Florida
On 10/23/09 I received a call from this company promising to send me a $100 gas card and a $100 walmart gift card. He asked for my address as verification of my identity. Then he asked for my mastercard # for verification as well. He put me on an automated line where I would hear trial offers and at the end of each offer feel free to say yes or no if I was interested. Than he said just say yes because if I say no it would lower my chances of receiving my gift cards. I said no to all of the offers and the agent came on the line and said if I say yes to at least one of the offers they would only charge my account $1 I said no thank you and terminated the call. Today I was using my online banking and noticed a charge in the amount of $59.90 I called my bank immediately to see if I could have the charges cancelled they said there was nothing they could do at this point except to wait for it to post and then dispute it. The charge was listed under Id Protect By and it had the phone number attached to it of 877-473-3388. I called it and spoke to an Indian man who said his name was Jack Miller he kept trying to tell me that it was my fault for not cancelling the program in seven days I told him how do you cancel something you never applied for? He said the programs were called Advantage Auto and Consumer Discount Network. Then I asked what is the name of the company he works for and he said Dante Marketing. I asked for the owners name and he said he doesn't know the owner and that he was the head supervisor. So I told him if I didn't get a refund I was going to contact a lawyer he said ok he would give me a refund and someone from his refund department would contact me in 24 hours and that I would be refunded within 72 hours. He said he would have to cancel the program first and he gave me a cancellation #11059568 he also told me that the owners name was John Reid. I found it very strange that the last four digits were the same as the last four digits of my phone number. I have no Idea where they got my number from in the first place. I would like to get my money back but I would also like to make sure that this doesn't happen to anyone else. I did cancel my card and have them issue me another one with a $5 charge I also asked for a refund for that and he said he couldn't do that because my bank charged me that. I googled this company and found a website named ripoffreport.com and there was one other report on there with the exact complaint apparently they have been doing this for a while. Please help shut them down.
