My husband started off by hearing about this company on a local television station. We thought, ok, if they are recommending it, they have to be good and they are local. We contacted them and they sent us a prepaid envelope to send our iPod to send in for repairs. They said that they would contact us for the estimate of what it would cost to fix. We said ok.
They received our iPod on 2.12.08 and said that it would cost $60 to fix it. This was all via the internet and was never by phone. My husband agreed to this because of the problems that was wrong. They said that it would only be 2 weeks tops and that we would have the iPod back right away. Their website says that their turnaround time for repairs are done and shipped within 24 hours of payment. Ikaput.com charged my credit card on 2.25.08 and has yet to return my iPod. Todays date is 3.17.08.
My husband made a phone call 2 weeks ago and he was told by Megan that his iPod was in quality control and that it would be to him by that Monday. My husband even offered to go get it and he was told that was not necessary. FREE SHIPPING BACK. That Monday has gone and past. I gave it a few days and called, all I got was an answering machine, so I left a message asking for a call back. No call back and no response back. GO FIGURE. I called again, left another message and then got onto their website and found that I could find a way to send a email to them. I filled that out. I then got on the phone again and finally got ahold of Megan who personally told me on Thursday, March 3.13.08, that she would make sure that I would have it by the following day. I am only around the mountain from that company and it should not take that long to get.
I called back on 3.14.08 because there was no iPod in my mail. Of course Megan had no answers as to why we did not have our iPod. I asked for her supervisor. She put me through to Nathaniel, who has no clue what customer service is either. In talking with him, he is the biggest guy in the company, so don't try to go above him as you won't get anywhere ...LOL... I asked him why I had not received my iPod as promised by Megan and he said that he had over 4000 iPods in the back and that there was no way to guarantee shipping of just one iPod to one customer. He also stated to me that his shipping person was not there the day before. This is not my fault. If I promise something to my customers, I follow through with it, even if I have to do it myself. I asked him what we could do about it and he said that he could see that we get it mailed out. I told him that was unacceptable and that I wanted it overnighted and I expected it to be there on Saturday. He told me that there was no way that could happen. No company could get me my item on Saturdays. I work with a company that does shipping and I told him that it could happen. We went back and forth. I asked for a full refund and he theatened to take my iPod apart and send it back to me not working again.
I started to get upset and asked for his supervisor. Nathaniel then told me that he was the highest that I could get in the company. I highly doubt that. I finnally got the Owners name out of him, as I guess that is my next step. He said that he was not going to loose money on fixing my iPod, that is not why they are in business.
I finally got him to agree on a partial credit and shipping my iPod back to me, supposedly overnight, for Saturday delivery. Nathaniel gave me a USPS tracking number of 9101148008600498596911 and said that it would be to me by Saturday. He told me that someone was leaving to take it to the Post Office now and that we were guaranteed to have it by Saturday. I was kind and even asked, what if it wasn't there by Saturday. He said then it is GUARANTEED to be there on Monday....Monday is here and the USPS website says that the item hasn't even shipped yet. Of course when I go to call the company no one answers. I can't get anyone to answer.
I recommend that NO ONE ever uses Ikaput.com for iPod repairs. Go to Apple and have them fix their own products. It is much better, not only that but having them do work on your iPod voids your warranty with Apple.
