I'm back from VACATION! My wife and I are back from our Vacation in October of 2007. We flew out Sunday morning and arrived in Ft Lauderdale and our rental car was waiting for us. It was through Continental Car Rental and was handled beautifully. From reading all of the posts we already knew that we would have to pay about 60 dollars in Taxes and Fees due to the rental being 20 a day and ours was a bit more. So if you do this package, be aware. We arrived to the Ramada in Ft Lauderdale off Commercial Street. It wasnt the best place, but it wasnt a dump either. We went to the welcome center and got our vouchers for our room and for food. We ate in the restaurant, which wasnt bad either. We knew that gratuties were added and we would be responsible for those (15%) but what was odd is that they TAX the gratuity. So we payed about 4 dollars for dinner including all tips and taxes. The vouchers covered breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The vouchers also included drinks which I had soda. We picked a time for our time share presentation which was 9:30 am. It was about 15 minutes away. We had the best time share guy, Frank. I was in a bad mood coming in, due to my wife going through the turn pike without paying (she was in the wrong lane and couldnt back up) Frank had been selling time shares for about 9 months and did it part time, and was really cool. We thought once we tell him no, he would turn on us, but he never did. We ran around the rest of the day(Monday) Tuesday we arrived to the port for our Cruise. The parking/drop off was a bit confusing but we made it. We got on the ship and it is Small, but it is nice. We had already read all the negative comments so we were prepared. My wife has been on 8 cruises and this was my second. We did have the 'upgraded room' due to some booking problems we encountered prior. We were on the Resturant level deck. It had a pull down bed off the wall that was pretty cool, and the window is hard to see, due to the TV being in front of it. We did our lifejacket thing and ran into a problem. There was the brattiest kid near us that was very unruly and his parents could not control him. We walked back to our room and I walked by some room where I heard kids screaming and said 'I am sure glad I am not next to that'. The Dad of the kid who was being a brat heard me say that, and said, and I was nearing my room, 'Yah but you are next to this kid' Our hearts sank, and we immediately went to get our room switched. They accomadated us and moved us to the Sun Deck, a much nicer room at no charge. Our previous room was really small with a really really small bathroom and shower. We were in Room S4 which is a nice cabin with a king sized bed, and larger bathroom. They arent the newest looking but they are clean. There were no plumbing issues or anything like that. Dinner service was great, we met some real nice folks there. They sing and dance for after you eat, just like on Carnival. Everyone eats at one time, I think it was at 7pm. The food is not as good as Carnival, but its not bad. The 10pm shows are pretty lame. The dancing girls are good, the singers arent that great though. The Main Girl singer is blonde and struggles to sing well. We did not sign up for excursions, we rented a scooter when get off the ship and went up and down the coast. The rental station forgot to inform me to ride on the opposite side of the road!!! OOPS! We got back to the ship at 5 and set sail back to Ft lauderdale. We got back and drove down to Orlando and checked into Ramada Maingate. This was a much nicer hotel, it is a 4 story hotel. It has a inside heated pool and is very nice. Same thing, go to the welcome center and pick up check in and food vouchers. Do not buy Discount tickets from the welcome center for the theme parks. They told us we would have to attend a brief 30 min presentation of a resort. They said we know you didnt buy in Ft Lauderdale, this is just to show you the resort so that you will tell your friends. We signed up for the 830 am time, and saw a couple we met on the ship there. We told our time share person we were duped, and we got out of the tour. We were refunded the price we paid for the discount tickets and high tailed in to Universal Studios. We had a blast there and came back worn out. All in all the vacation was perfect. I really dont know what all these people are fussing about. Most seem to be fussing about having to pay first. Very few went on the trip and have much to complain about. Enjoy!
