Though either of you can terminate the relationship, they do not get to keep your money. It is like withholding a final paycheck of payment for hours you already worked. They need to forward you the money they owe you or give it to the state as escheat property.
Please ANYONE who reads this, report this to your state. There are particular steps they have to take, none of which are keeping your money for themselves.

i recently contacted inbox dollars to see why i hadn't received my initial check. they said i hadn't requested one, when in fact i had done so almost 2 months previously. i then put in a new request, but asked to be contacted about the discrepancy.
a few days later i received notice my account had been terminated. i am still waiting to find out why, or if i will get the check i had requested.
