When I intially contacted Infiniti that my car had an oil consuption problem. I had driven 1600 miles after last oil change and was driving while the motor began to make a knocking noise. I got home and check the oil nothing registered on the dip stick. I added oil it took 3 quarts before i got a reading about 3 1/2 quarts before it was in the normal level on the dipstick.

I took car to my local shop and my ASE cerified mechanic said the car needed a motor it was caused by being low on oil. I contacted Infiniti about this and I was told to bring it to a dealer. The closest dealer is almost 2 hours away. I tried to make arrangements to borrow a trailor to tow  the car up there. It definitly wouldnt be drivable all the way there.

The following week while the car was parked we got a heavy rain it was parked in a low area in my yard. Water rose up to the botom edge of my doors. I didnt start the car for about 2 weeks after that to make sure the battery was still charged and cut it right off. After a few more weeks unable to take the car there myself I recontacted the dealer and asked what way would be best for me to get the car there. The person I spoke to said they offer roadside assistance and the car was picked up the next day. Before it was pickedup I washed the car also the engine compartment since it had sat for 2 months at this point. Upon the dealership i specting the car they said the airfilter was damp and with the car having an opening near the top of the airbox it cuold have gotten damp when I washed it but i didnt spray directly into the airbox.

They denied the warranty due to that no further inspection. There is no way water possibly got into the bottom of the motor. I asked them to drain the oil where they would have seen signs of water in the oil. They refused at that point I contacted Infiniti consumer affairs. In which they said the dealership was there eyes and ears. Pictures they took showed that water rose to the bottom of the radiator shoud wich shows it was atleast six inches below the airbox showing that no way water was high enough to reach the very bottom of the airbox but they still denied my claim. Unfortunatly after about 5 weeks of run around I contacted the better business bureau but due to the warranty having run out a few weeks before I filed the claim with them even though the car was at the dealership three weeks prior to the 6 year warranty expired. Another contact to the dealership speaking to the dealers owner they still declined to help me.

I have my records for oil changes and the car only has 50800 miles on it which the manufactures warranty was 6years/70000miles . I cant go any longer without a vehicle so at my cost I am going to have to have my car towed back and pay for a new motor out of pocket.  Infiniti has recognized this problem with a technical service bulliten but from research will do about anything to decline covering this issue. The TBS # is800-662-6200. Thank You for reading and hopefully there will in turn be a class action suit brought against infiniti for them not taking responsiblity for building a poor design that is prone to failure.
