I was hired by GREG ZELLERS of INNERSTUDIO.COM to produce dozens of graphics for his new websites, XFORTRESS.COM & RAVENSLAIR.COM.
Things went well for the first month, receiving payment for my work. Then, after I delivered the final pieces of the project, payment stopped.
With $1100 still owed to me, Greg Zellers told me that "The check was mailed 2 days ago, it must have gotten lost in the mail". He used this sad excuse for 7 more emails! Finally, he came clean. He told me that he couldnt afford to pay me because he paid other freelancers in advance, and they didnt produce for him, forcing him to hire more freelancers to finish the job. So I got screwed, while these others got paid for not doing any work.
Then, Greg Zellers changed the name of his business, disconnected/changed his phone number, and changed his email address.
$1100 isnt the end of the world, but his timing made it so I had no money to buy christmas gifts. He promised me several times that he would get the check to me in time for XMAS shopping. This is the part that makes me upset. He purposely avoiding payment until Christmas was over and he knew I had to either go through Christmas without giving any presents, or take on a loan to afford them. On Christmas Eve, he finally decided to tell me that he wasnt going to pay me.
I have given this scumbag the benefit of the doubt for 3 months now. In a further effort to ignore me, he wouldnt even send me a W-2 form for my taxes. I have made arrangements with a lawyer to collect the late payment.
I am writing this to tell fellow freelancers to not take work from Greg Zellers. He doesnt think its important to pay his freelance talent, and furthermore, he shows them so much disrespect that he purposely tries to hurt them beyond finance. He owns the following companies/websites: Page Green Internet Services (pagegreen.com); Innerstudio.com (innerstudio.com); Xfortress.com; Ravenslair.com. Dont let him take advantage of you!
