Intelius ripoff: advertises criminal background checks but couldn't produce information even when the person was already incarcerated for three years and they had complete information on name,dob,place of incarceration Internet
I contacted the company for a criminal check on an individual. Gave them complete name, date of birth etc. They said after obtaining my credit card and charging $19.95, that no records existed in the state I listed and suggested a $39.95 nationwide check which also came back with no information on the individual.
I gave them the prison where the individual in incacerated and all the other pertinent info and they said "sorry, we do not find any information" When I asked for a refund and told them they should really check the accuracy of their data partners they said "too bad". I mentioned that someone who might be making a relationship or hiring decision or someone interested in knowing if the person was a sex offender might be harmed by the lack of information.
They just said their disclaimer states that they can't be responsible for the infomation supplied by their data partners. The person in question is a sex ofender and has been incarcerated for three years, but is due to be out soon. I think it is criminal that they didn't have that information yet were quite willing to take my money and solicit more when the first check came back with no criminal record. Their product is supposed to be the background check. Obviously they didn't provide records that were available and might be harmful in their ommision. Don't use them. Advise others not to use them.
