IP-RXCONNECT cold-called to order pharmaceuticals w/o prescription; company knew previous on-line pharmacy activity: no confirmation or return phone numbers Internet
received cold call asking if i wanted to "reorder" a pharamceutical product I had ordered on-line in the past [10/2003, don't remember company and didn't need prescription at this time]. placed order and was asked for prescription info. when stated i had no prescription, i was told this was okay--if i ordered a second product, the product requiring a prescription would be cleared for shipping. (how did i fall for this????)
when i was quoted a price and said it was too high, i was offered a different strength of the mediction at a lower price. i was quoted a different, lower price three times settling on $210 for 90 anorectic tabs and 30 tabs of an anxiolytic medication to be shipped in 4 business days.
i asked that the order be repeated. the indian sales person had to repeat my order at least 4 times before i could completely understand him. i apologized for the language barrier...he said i would be getting phentramine (?) the nonpharmaceutical brand of the anorectic agent--then whispered he had to say that because to say i was getting a prescription drug w/o a prescription was illegal. i asked again if i was actually getting the anorectic agent described. he repeated the same thing: quoted the non-pharmaceutical agent, then whispered the same excuse about the presciption medication. (and i still fell for this?!?)
after giving my credit card info, he said he would return my call in 10 minutes w/ my order number. the call never came. after 20 minutes i called my credit card company. i was told the authorization number for the transaction had already gone through. i wanted to cancel my card, but was told by my company rep that this would be unnecessary--that these cold call companies screened their employees and they did not steal card numbers??? i feel even more stupid, now!!! but, why would my card company be so passive?
this order took place on 7/20/07. i received my credit card statement 8/1/07. the following number was listed beside the transaction:
IP-RXCONNECT.COM 605.413.4728 KN. i called the number--of course, no one is available.
i checked the internet site: IP-RXCONNECT.COM: to check product shipping information, the site asks for my credit card number, again, not an order number.
please advise what i am to do next. thanks
