Island Yellow Pages They offered a "free self-design web site" with a listing. Unclear billing practices including automatic relisting.. No viable support. Tampa Florida
I was contacted by a representitive of the company encouraging me to place an ad with the Island Yellow Pages. This included a "free self-design web-site I could make changes in the test or pictures at will. He told me after we had agreed on a fee of $59.50 a month I would be contacted by a person from billing.
When contacted they were determined I was to pay the entire 12 months right then. I told them there was no way I could afford that and later sent in a payment of $59.50 with an invoice they later mailed. They were apparently satisfied with that for from hence-forth they deducted that amount out of my credit card.
Because I have a small limit on my card they often were unable to deduct their fees on a monthly basis. However instead of sending me a bill in the mail which I made clear I prefered they invoiced me by e-mail. A service they claim they cannot rely on to process information. At least this is the word I have received from them after having e-mailed them I no longer am intererested in their "services" before the year long contract was up.
I basically ignored thier e-mailed invoices assuming they were deducting their fee automatically. Now apparently I owe $488 now plus am "automatically" signed up with them another year. Their notice of "Don't respond to us via e-mail" was three pages down in their renewal notice. I assumed the first address that was high-lighted for their accounting address would be an appropriate place to respond to.
Their was no viable response when I initially set up the account. A woman who was working with me on technical information on how to set up my web-site was soon unavailable. The next guy would ask a neighbor seated next to him on how to process pictures (pixel size) etc... I tried to form the site, could only do one page of four. No links, no pictures.
I was contacted by a third individual after another attempt of mine to at least get the site on-line. I am not very techno-savy and soon became weary of trying. I can't even find my listing on their site nor my web-site. I'm positive no one else can either.
