My 6 year old son got glasses for Jackson Davenpost last November, after getting an eye exam at school. I was told on numerous occasions to give him time to adjust to the glasses. At 6 years old as you can imagine it was very hard for him to tell me if something is wrong with the glasses. All he would say is they are nice.

My son started doing very poorly in kindergarten not progressing as fast as the other children, I was told by his teacher to give him time. He made it through kindergarten and I got him a tutor for the summer and we thought it was a good time to address concerns with the glasses because he always seamed to look over them.

The first time I called the person that answered said that they would have the doctor call back and he never did the second time the same the third time I got a call back with their is nothing we can do your insurance will not cover it. They said I will have to wait till it had been a full year in November. I called again in august to see and got the same answer. My sons 1st grade teacher  told me of her concerns and I called again in September and never got a call back.

Now it is October the school nurse tested his eyes again and found that this is not the right prescription and he cannot see well through them and decided to try and help me and I let her speak to them personally. When she called the doctor said that he probably should have been recommended to a pediatric ophthalmologist because his vision was 20/70.

After a year of questions why did I not get that information why did they not tell me he needed a specialist I know nothing I did not know there was one that could specialize in that. Why did they let my son go a year with glasses knowing they were not right. You know he does not know and I cannot tell if they are right. They just took my insurance money and left my child blinded. After calling the insurance company they have recommended me to another eye doctor who is a specialist and neither them nor the eye doctor have said that I will have to wait till next month they are  taking my son next week.

How is a business aloud to give you anything and then when it does not work say oh well your insurance does not cover our mistakes.

Jackson Davenport is sympathetic toward Mrs. Lewiss situation and strives to satisfy all our clients.
Mrs. Lewiss son received his eye exam and glasses in November, 2010. We were unaware her son was having issues until she scheduled a recheck appointment in August 2011. Unfortunately, Mrs. Lewis and her son missed the appointment and made no attempt to reschedule or bring her son into the office. Mrs. Lewis then waited until mid October to call, this time stating her son could not see out of his glasses and asked when his insurance would cover a new exam and glasses. We informed her that since it had been 11 months from the initial exam we were unable to see her son for his annual exam,  and that her sons insurance benefits would be available for his use mid-November. I did speak with the school nurse, explained the situation regarding his exam, glasses and insurance. I also suggested Mrs. Lewis take her son to MUSC Storm Eye for his next exam.
