I would appreciate any specific help. I recently attended a 3 day seminar offered by National Real Estate Investors and to make things worse, signed up for the whole package which is $22,000. It seems that the seminar did offer general information which was useful, however, it also offered legal and tax strategies that I am not familiar with, nor do I know if they are truly legitimate such as "Agreements for Deeds" or "Land Trusts". After the first night of the seminar, I attempted to do some internet searches on James Smith and National Real Estate Investors and turned up nothing. This is the first sight I found which had any information. I now have buyer remorse and I am unsure what the next steps are that I should take. I have not yet started the "mentoring" but I am sure I will be contacted soon.

Also, during the seminar, they offered students who signed up for the platinum package ($22k) the opportunity to buy the 1st phase of a condotel (52 out of 100 available), Meridian at Secret Lake, located 1 mile from Disneyworld in Orlando, FL for $79,000-$82,895 which entails am $8,000 deposit. We were told that we could check-out the information at: www.firstalertproperties.com Additionally, part of the platinum package includes buying tours with James Smith.

Any additional information or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I just took the NY seminar... I spent my $6000 for the seminar. I am closing on my first deal next week. Everything is legit. Use their lawyer in Vegas. He is the best in setting you up. He will set up your LLC, Living trust and land trust in any state you have land. Of course they offer thier own property but you don't have to buy into it. Go out and search. What I found is alot of properties are in the south, My deal is in Tenn.... I am in the Bronx. Just a reg guy. If you know how to hustle you can get it done. I didn't know anything before the seminar. Ryan taught the NYC seminar. Good LucK everyone ALso you can email me. Call me and I will help you head in the right direction.

I have been to several seminars, including ones with James Smith, Robert Allen, and a number of other companies. Firstly, all of the speakers, unless they are "headliners" are all independent contractors of the main company to which you cut your check or swipe your card. They almost always have their own deals cooking and this is often a reason for them to do the speaking. PLEASE NOTE THAT EVERY SPEAKER IS DIFFERENT. I have personally bought into deals through Ms. Devoe's recommendations and have done quite well. Do your research BEFORE you buy next time. Also, if you're confused about a specific item covered in the seminar content, call an attorney - they would be more apt to handle these types of questions. If you do a simple google search, you'll find several references to Agreements for Deed (land contracts also) and Land Trusts. They're both completely accepted in every circumstance that I've encountered. The book she recommended in the class was really good and actually taught my attorney a few things (which felt great!) - it's by Mark Warda. I bought the package as well, but am less than satisfied with the fulfillment of that package. I went to the Millionaire Five conference and was incredibly disappointed. The personal training has been outright bad, not to mention I had some guy calling me after the show was over trying to get me to cancel my purchase so I would buy it through him or something. It seemed REALLY shady, so I declined. I've made a lot of money in real estate and have spent a lot of money on trainings. Some are good, some aren't.

I have also heard of the projects in Orlando in the Meridien project and upon looking into them I found that they were offered by a lady name Denise DeVoe who was offering them to students in classes that she taught. I later found out that these projects are not a part of, nor are they offered by James Smith or NRI, but by Denise without the permission of NRI. Be careful when choosing to invest in these as the numbers did not make sense to me.
