I accepted the trial offer for membership to Fun Family Rewards on Aug.7th and cancelled on Sept 20th, and was told there would be no charge, which was true. Within that time period, I made a purchase on Sept. 6th of about $189.00 in the JC Penney Salon, which, according to the terms of membership, should have rewarded me 2, $20.00 Penney's gift cards ($1.00 reward for every $4.00 spent in the salon). I used my Penney's card for the purchases so there is a record of them and Penney's is going to mail it to me.

I sent my receipt along with the required coupons which I had filled out showing the qualifying purchases. Weeks later, I recieved everything back which I has sent in, along with a letter saying that the purchases, "had to have been made in the Salon". The receipt clearly showed that those purchases were made in the salon. I called Fun Family Rewards and was told to re-mail the information and put it to the attention of a particular person, I'm sorry to say I did not keep that person's name. I did so immediately after that phone call. To date, I have not received any gift cards nor any correspondence. I called again today and was told that, "no record was showing that I had resubmitted my information". I find it hard to believe that it was lost in the mail. All the help I was given was the fax number to send a letter of complaint.

This is an update. I faxed a copy of the first report I filed here, to Fun Family Rewards fax number. I received a phone call, but the person who called just kept repeating that they had not received anything that I had mailed. I know they received the original mailing because they mailed it back to me saying that I,"had to have made the purchase in the salon", which was clear on the receipt that I had. When I called the first time, I was instructed to mail it back, which I did immediately. Now they are placing the onus upon me for the 3rd time to provide evidence that what I am claiming is true. Doesn't the company have to assume some responsibility to investigate their own shabby record keeping? Don't they keep any records of previous interactions with customers? Can they just get away with making promises and then renege on them by simply saying they don't have any records regarding this matter? I did my part multiple times and I really think that it is the company's turn to take the initiative to do some investigating as to what happened. Why in the world would a person waste the time and energy to make this up? I've verified with Penneys that the purchase in the salon was made during the time my membership was in effect. They are going to mail a copy of that record to me, but said that it might be some time before it is actually done and sent. I cannot believe that I have to go through all this trouble to make a company follow through on their advertised promise. Thank goodness that I didn't decide to keep my membership to the club. I can't imagine trying to claim my rewards and having to go through this type of mess more than once. It is anything but "Fun".
