I did not remember the representative's name who answered my call, because I did not expect a poor attitude from JCPenny customer service.

The story is that I would like to return the furniture which was delivered to my place on 10/6/07. I have a reason for it, but the customer service was not willing to listen to my explanation and she kept repeating the return policy, which indicates that no return after accept furniture on delivery. The return policy was not explained to me when I purchased the furtniture in the store or when the furniture was delivered.

Anyway, I believe that my case will be an exception. I was not at home, because I had to work in the office that day. Therefore, I asked my friend to wait for the delivery. I trusted JCPenny and therefore I made this wrong decision. That day, my friend signed the paper, because she was told so. However, she did not realize that the signature would mean that I could not return my furniture, because the deliveryman did not explain this to her. Besides, she noted some defects on the furniture, but she could not make the decision for me. Therefore, the delivery man told her that I could contact the customer service later to discuss the return or exchange, which is misleading statement.

When I got home late that day, I found the furniture had some defects and felt very disappointed, because we had been waiting for the furniture for three months. The delivery of the furniture was delayed couple times due to some quality issue. Finally, we still got the piece with quality issue. Then we went to JCPenny store in Washington Square, Portland, OR and we did not find anything we can exchange for. Therefore, we considered return. The shop assistance told us that we need to contact the salesperson on Monday (10/08/07). Therefore, we waited.

I called the salesperson on 10/8/07 and found out that I need to contact customer service to resolve the return. I called the customer service on 10/8/07 and got an unfriendly and disappointing response. I was told that a technician would be sent within 5 business day. However, till today (10/17/07), no one contacted me.

I am here to complain about their poor quality of customer service and their desperation for business, without considering customer's reasonable request for the return, and manipulation of customer's trust and customer's lack of self-protection.
