In July of 2004 I purchased a vehicle from JD Byrider. The salesman didn't even read the sales price of the vehicle off the car because there was not one posted but off the peice of paper. It was a 99 Pontiac Grand AM with 91,867 miles on it. The price of the vehicle was 8,999. I went ahead and proceeded to purchase the vehicle. I advised the sales man that the car needed new tires, radio, and the rear dirver side door did not open. I left with the car that day and made arrangemnts the following week for the service that was needed on the car. The 3rd day I had the car I was on my way to work and the car did not start. I called them and advised them of the problem and stated to them that at that point I wanted to return the car. They advised me that I can't return it, so I made arrangements to get the car towed to the shop to get repaired. The service repair man advised me that the cables were not hook up to the battery properly and all was okay then. I continued to drive the car and noticed that I heard a noise in my tires when I turned and while I drove the car on the highway.I took my car back to them because it was still under warranty and advised them of the noise they said it was the wheel bearings. They went ahead and fixed it, but when I left and continued to drive the car I still heard a noise. All the other was done on my car as far as the radio and new tires, but they never fixed my rear driver side door. I would call them and the service man would give the run around only because the person that did that type of body work worked outside the company. I was up there one day and they even ordered the part for the door and it is still in my car until this day,but they never gave me solid arrangements to get it fixed. They always gave me the run around on how they had to call the guy and they were backed up in service. Five months later I took my car to Tuffy because the heat stopped working and I asked them to check out the noise in my tires I have been hearing for the past 5 months. Come to find out I needed a coil spring and struts. When they called me and adivised me that I was late making a payment to them I advised of my car trouble and asked if there was any type of special arrangemnts they had on carrepairs, they advised me that I had to talk to there service department. When I called the service department I spoke to a guy named Bob and he advised me that the costs would be $500.00. I'm a single mother that wasn't money I could pull out of thin air. I waited only until I found a shop who could fix it at a affordable price for me. Since I had the vehicle, I replaced the alternator, brakes, coilsprings, struts, tirerods, heater, censors and wheel bearinss. The windows squeaked ever since I bought the car. Now the driver side window won't roll back up, wheel bearings, caliber, and the heater is broke again what should I do.

High miles for that price.

About 3 yrs ago, i bought a 97 Pontiac grand am. It had 54K miles and i paid 4900.00 for it. I had similar problems, especially with the windows. It would blow window modules every three months or so. it was covered under warranty, but my dealership said those would always be an issue. Now, i check service updates and recalls for every car I'm interested in. Tuffy is not much differant than Midas, but that price sounds about right for that amount of work. i also live in NE Ohio and have watched byrider for a while. I had a friend that got a car from there and had nothing but trouble.

Kimberly, you really need to file a complaint with the Ohio Attorney General. Include all the detail that you put in your Rip Off Report. Byrider has already been under scrutiny with the OH Atty.General. They will pay attention to your complaint and you will probably hear from upper management. Good Luck!
