Complaint Review: Jeffery Michael Johnson aka Hoss Johnson - California

He is a homeless man who claimed that he was mugged, later pickpocketed, injured in a fall, detained by the police unlawfully, returned late another night when he got on the wrong metrolink train after having lunch with his friend who was supposed to take him back but whose daughter had an accident so he had to get back on his own and then mugged again-lot of bad luck, huh?

I fed, housed and clothed him, and later because always for SOME reason he couldn't get his picture i.d. (he couldn't get a birth certificate without a picture i.d. and couldn't get a picture i.d. without a b.c.) he couldn't cash his Halliburton (supposedly) pay and per diem checks, I also lent him money, which came out to over 6K. He engendered my trust because on the second day he was here, he was "unlawfully" detained for "suspicion" of possessing drugs, (he said that they needed to have a reason for detaining him) but because they released him with no charges, (now, I figured he may have been bailed out and jumped bail) I felt that there was a criminal check on him and he passed. He DID also get an picture i.d and soc. sec card from a former employer AND during the short time he stayed here, he gave me an insurance check to pay me back immediately what he owed me, another reason I trusted him. I had to deposit in my account, as we couldn't open one with his expired i.d and gave him cash back out of it from subtracting what he owed, it was returned not for NSF but because he was not on the account, which he may have known would happen.

Although I have been cheated and stolen from before, none to this extent. Jeff had also victimized not only another woman and her family but many other victims. Con people are clever, they can't usually be prosecuted criminally because they don't use a gun, just lies and deceit and they can get away with it, because they can't be arrested. I and the other victim googled him, but because his name is so common we couldn't find anything specific to him. I think that to make him seem believable if someone did check to see if this person exists and was mugged, he does use his real name, birthdate, and he has used people he knew as people in the stories he tell. He used the name of a woman he claimed was his wife killed in accident and was found through facebook, she DID exist and told the other victim I got to know, that he had done this many times.

I've contacted legislators to ask about setting up a national database just to collect warnings from other people who have been scammed/conned not to prosecute but just for informational purposes, they have not responded, probably due to liability/privacy issues (although nowadays with social media who has privacy?) The Bureau of Vital Statistics of his his birth state of Louisiana have been warned about him if anyone tries to help him get a b.c., the social security office also, if he tries to get another SS #, that's how he scams people with multiple ss#, Western Union after their investigation will no longer let him pick up money without i.d. (they took pics of him in their GA locations) and other money sending companies like Paypal and Paypal themselves are alerted to his conning of money, and DMVs in various states as he may be claiming to say he had a drivers license from their state (I was told by one, that he did NOT and again, stupidly, I believed that they were disorganized rather than HE was lying).Ironically, he DID get arrested in a southern county, for filing a false police report. The other victim and I, believe that so he can show people a report if they don't believe he was mugged. I am going into such detail in case someone experiences this with a person of a different name. HIs birthdate is 7/22/89, he said he was born in Monroe LA (told me he was related to the Robertson family from Duck Dynasty, could be another of his lies though).
