Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I have recently spoke with employees of several Maryland Jerry's Subs and Pizza resturants. I spoke to them because a friend of mine ended up with food poisoning after eating a grilled chicken sub. He described this sub as being slimmy, and was sick within minutes of taking just a few bites.

You hear how resturants will drop food on the floor, pick it up and serve it. In some resturants you see roaches and unclean enviornments, but what I found out about Jerry's will truely disgust you.

Every employee I've spoke to have stated the same information, I even visited a few an watched the employees to see for myself. Appearently each Jerry's is locally owned and operated. I called the one located in Smallwood Village Center in Waldorf, MD to place a pickup for a friend (at this point, we didn't know about the problems to follow). After tring to place the order for a half hour, we gave up and told them never mind. The people in the resturant that night spoke no to little English. They had no clue what we were ordering. Anyway, after that night, we spoke to a guy we knew that worked there and asked if anyone spoke English. That's when we were given unethical and unsanitary information.

We were told that, not only do they have those horrier stories you normally hear, but none of these employees wash their hands after using the rest rooms, nor do they wash their hands after touching money and raw meats. Now, we know why people are getting food poisoning. They also do not check expiration dates on food products. The other employees are told by owners and management, that they are not to waste any food.

I couldn't believe things were this bad, even after speaking to several employees from different Maryland resturants. So, I went to some, I ordered a soda and sat down and watched for awhile. I've seen all the things lised above and more. I've seen a man open a package of chicken, smell it and have the manager smell it, the manager asks him when it expired, he told the manager a date a week before that day. The manager says, "It smells ok to me." I've seen another employee actually sneeze on someone's sub, an employee wipe their nose on their arm, and a woman that was way to sick to be working, coughing on food, complaining to other employees that the manager told her she would be fired if she did not come in that day. Disgusting isn't it. You knows what else these poeple do that we can't see. I don't even care to think!

At this point, I am filing a complaint with the Maryland Health Department. A resturant that has these practices should be investigated and shut down.

Fake phone number too?

One more thing, when you called the sub shop to talk to them about their unhealthy and less than sanitary conditions did they give you a fake phone number to the regional office too? I was just guessing since it seems that almost everytime you want to complain to the higher ups in the company someone gives you a fake number to complain to..........

After tring to place the order for a half hour, we gave up and told them never mind. The above is from April's first posting. My husband called to place a order and it took about a half hour to put it into the mans head, his English was so terrible he had no clue as to what was being ordered. I was also the one who picked the order up that night and I did speak to the man that the order was placed with. This is from a later posting of April's. And working in the medical field it is a FACT that food poisoning takes a minimum of 4-7 HOURS to make you sick. Try to keep your story straight AND plausible and you may get more sympathy.

From your first post: "That's when we were given unethical and unsanitary information."

Unsanitary information?

April, would you be kind enough to elucidate how information can be unsanitary? Did you get explosive diarrhea or fever within minutes of hearing (or aurally ingesting, as it were) this information? Or was there an incubation period?

I appreciate all that you do as a consumer advocate and am going to probably avoid Jerry' s establishment. Well, maybe.

Thank you for your crusade against service personnel you have difficulty interacting with. You make a difference.

Right. Furthermore, they may not speak English well either, much like the sentence above.

Food Poisioning

You can NOT be "sick" from food poisioning after "minutes". Who told you it was "food poisioning"? Did you see them drop your sandwich on the ground? normally takes a LOT longer than that.

You should have kept part of the sample (sandwich) to give to the health dept.

MY ADVICE: Don't continue to eat there!

I am a certified Food Service Manager in Montgomery County, Md and own a pizza delivery place in Pittsburgh.

Apparently you cannot read or spell Dale. You obviously did not go back and look at what April wrote earlier did you? I went back and read April's statements twice before posting. I always make sure of my facts before I stick my neck out. Besides misspelling the word apparently you also misspelled accusations. Now go back and read it again Dale. It's the fifth post down.

Apearently, you need some glasses. You seem to like to change words and claim something else was said. You either can't read or just like to start things. I suggest you go back and re-read. DO us all a favor and read things before spilling things out of your mouth that are not true. You're right, you're gonna' get hell for this, fo the simple fact that you make acusations that aren't there!

Hey Adam,

I'm supposed to be getting some work done but on days I'm not into it I follow the saga of April and Dale. This is the first time I've read this posting and I wanted to point something out.

In April's original post she states that after 1/2 hour of trying to order they gave up and told them never mind. But in her post on 10/5/02 she states she is the one who picked up the order that night. I'm surprised no one caught her little slip.

I'll probably catch hell from April or Dale now but it's kind of worth it. LOL

You both can't spell, you both think you are consumer advocates but sound like snotty kids.I have a few theories;you both share one brain,Dale is a transvestite or the most plausible, April is a hermaphrodite. I may be wrong on all counts and you two found the only other creatures on the planet that could tolerate your constant, petulant whining about everything. Do everyone a favor; cut your phone lines, destroy your computer, shove your cellphone and nail all your doors and windows shut so you can't bother anybody anymore.
Having to put up with only each other for the rest of your pathetic lives would be justice indeed.

You've got to be kidding me?!? You actually took the time to go through my report to bust on my spelling, you really need a life. No, I do not nor would I ever work for a resturant. Maybe you can only get a job at a piss-poor resturant, but not me. So really if you have something to say for or against Jerry's that's one thing, but don't waste my time. I do have a life.

By the way, if after reading my report, you still choice to eat there, that's all on you. And I am American, maybe you feel better busting on the grammer of American's because you're another person the government pays to live in our country.

Innocence not innocents
Badmouthed is one word, not two.
The use of more than one question mark is not necessary.
Restaurants is the proper spelling of the word.
Child's has an apostrophe, as it is possessive.

Just a few little errors that would cause me to think that maybe the employees could not understand you because you were the one not communicating properly.
I wonder, is it possible that you might be someone that was fired from this place of business?

Do you really work for Smallwoods Jerry's?

I have doubts that you really work for this Jerry's. Like I specifically stated, I first received this information from an employee. Like it or not. Your "Fellow" workers are the ones rating them out. Secondly, I know for a fact that they don't speak good English, because also like I stated, My husband called to place a order and it took about a half hour to put it into the mans head, his English was so terrible he had no clue as to what was being ordered. I was also the one who picked the order up that night and I did speak to the man that the order was placed with. I also stated that this is not the only Jerry's with bad working habits. Out of the employees (the teens you speak of), no one has mentioned your name, in fact I will be calling one of them tomorrow and ask him if a person named Sara works there. Jerry's, like most fast food chains, hires teens not to help them financially, but to take advantage of their innocents and egos. Wake up kid!

Now as to the comment you made, You wouldn't want my advise because I bad mouth all resturants and you would be afraid to eat at any. What???? I bad mouthed Jerry's, not Golden Coral, not Bob Evans, not Uno's, not Ledo, should I continue with the large number of resturants in Waldorf? I could care less what you think, you're a kid still living in a childs world. Grow up before you comment on what you don't know.

Sorry, "April", you sound like an unmitigated fool with virtually no formal education. Your communiques could be written more correctly (grammar, spelling, syntax) by anyone successfully completing grade school. Your statement: "I have two associated degrees and a few license's, I run my own company and help my husband with his new business." is TRULY a comedic disaster. "associated?" ..."license's"..(with an apostrophe?)...and innumerable additional grammatical gaffes throughout.

Bottom line, your critique of Jerry's subs is TOTALLY unbelievable. It is absolutely obvious an ulterior motive exists for your silly prattle.

Pitiful! Your contribution to this forum is truly pitiful.

You are really bad mouthing my place of employment. There are no Russians that own the Jerry's and yes there are lots of teens there working to pay for their car or insurance. We have not had any problems with the health department or complaints from people who order food here. I am sorry that you think you know so much about this establishment. All I know is that Willie is not Russian, and doesn't speak Russian. And everyone here can be understood by our customers and each other. Please don't lie about us any more. I don't know what you want, but I think you are giving a good website a very bad name. Also, I hope you don't get paid to be a consumer advocate, I don't want your advice, because I would never be able to shop or eat in Waldorf again because you hate everyplace here.

First off, who the hell do you think you are? My grammar, apparently I'm a hell of a lot more educated then you'll ever be, and a lot better off financially. I am a consumer advocate. I have two associated degrees and a few license's, I run my own company and help my husband with his new business. Oh, that's right, you apparently have no other education, after all you admitted to working in Smallwood Village.

Now, if you do work in that area, you must not have been in that particular Jerry's. Like I said, I got my information from a reliable source, an employee, and checked things out myself. If you knew who the owner was, you'd know he was Russian and speaks Russian the majority of the time in there, secondly you would also know that the majority of the employees are Russian and speak little to no English, so what were you saying.

I imagine you as this lonely little girl who has nothing better to do then run your little mouth. You need to get your facts in check first. Thinking you're all big and bad because your mommy finally brought you a computer doesn't make you special. Get a life.

The only "articles" in here about Waldorf are written, rather poorly, by YOU. Jerry's Subs and Pizza in the Smallwood Village Center has NO foreign speaking people working there. YOu have NO clue as to what you are talking about and I will talk to the OWNER about what you are typing online about his busines. I work in the Village Center and you probably sit at home collecting welfare and talking on your cell phone. Just my opinion and I am entitled to it. People like you and your attitude make me sick. Get a real Life.
