Jimmys Pizza, Michael Paige ripoff to employees Terminated my employment after I was injured, Told me I was never put on the books, after I filled out all forms to be put on the books full time. Greenlawn New York
I worked at this Pizzeria. I had been there full time for the past 6 months. 2-3 months into the employment, I was asked if I wanted to work a heavy full time shift of 50+ hours a week, I agreed but told the employer and owner of the establishment, I needed to be on the books for all my hours, he said "thats fine". I was assuming I would start recieving a check instead of cash, the first payment after filling out all necessary state forms and everything, he pulled me aside and said, "to make it easier for you and me, I'm gonna keep paying you in cash" He said, "It will save you time at the bank and its easier gfor him" I didn't think much of it, I assumed it was legal, cause I had filled out 2 forms for him and gave him a copy of my license.
About 6-7 weeks later, I was assaulted outside the job, and suffered such sever injuries to my arm, I had to tell my job I couldn't work for close to 6 months. I tore my rotator cuff, tendons, ligaments and nerve damage to my arm. I went into the establishment and asked them if I could get some paper work to apply for unemployment or disability, and I was told, he never filed the paperwork, and that, It "wasnt his problem" anymore. He also included "good luck" with everything. I'm twenty two years old, the man convinced me to work full time for him instead of going back to school, he offered me a higher salary and hours that I prefered, then when I was unable to work, not only there but anywhere, I don't deserve not to get some kind of income. I don't believe it's very fair, and I want to try to do as much as I can to reclaim some of the money.
