Funny we haven't heard from that JK Harris consultant anymore. Maybe after reading a few ex-employee posts, and the truth was told about how JK harris treats their employees, he has decided to shut up, realizing the grass is greener after JK Harris. God knows I have found that out! Or maybe he was fired for not doing his job? Or he's just been too busy trying to rip off the poor souls who made appointmnets with him.

Just avoid these places and pay day loan companies...before you do business with any company check here first so you know what to expect. My thoughts are where their is smoke they is a fire somewhere..... I resolved my tax lien very easily and it was over 2k and I paid them when I can and finally did. And they did not put a lien on my house nor did they garnish my salary in the 4 years I owed the money. I dont need a firm like this now or ever. You can resolve this yourself just by calling the Irs and setting up payments that are reasonable and the govt will work with you...

I forgot to mention that JK Harris & Co will delay the whole process of trying to resolve your tax debt. When I made my down payment, the sales consultant told me not to worry about wage garnishments and that I will protected against wage garnishments. The sales consultant for JK Harris tells the client that they will contact the IRS with the assigned power of attorney and this will stop all collection efforts (wage garnishments) before they start. Instead of doing some work by actually contacting the IRS, JK Harris & Co delays the process by doing nothing. Two months after contracting with JK Harris & Co, the IRS contacts my employer for a wage garnishment. I got my wages garnished in Nov 2004 for 2 weeks which costs me $400. I called JK Harris & Co and spoke to the caseworker. She told me that I should go to the local office and fill out a form to stop the garnishment. I ended up going to the local IRS office in Fresno and filled out a form. The IRS immediatly stopped the garnishment. It seems like lot of clients had their wages garnished after contracting with JK Harris & Co. I do not understand why JK Harris & Co never made attempts to stop wage garnishments for its clients. If a taxpayer or a power of attorney (JK Harris & Co) can prove that wage garnishment will create a hardship, the IRS will stop all garnishments. And the sales consultant for JK Harris will not tell you the truth about how to stop wage garnishments. The sales consultants make it seem like they are the only ones that can stop wage garnishments and remove property liens. The truth is that you can do this yourself by going to the local IRS office and filling out a form. This whole process of stopping wage garnishments may take upto an hour and it does not cost anything. If JK Harris & Co had the power of attorney contact the IRS and stop the wage garnishment before it starts, it will show that JK Harris & CO is making an effort. Since that did not happen, sounds to me like breach of contract. After my OIC was submitted to the IRS in Dec 2006, JK Harris & Co and the power of attorney failed to call the IRS back. THe offer examinar for the IRS called JK harris & Co and left numerous messages. The offer examinar calls me and tells me that my power of attorney (JK Harris & Co) has not responded to any of her messages. The offer examinar also sheds some light on JK Harris & Co. She tells me that the IRS left messages for many taxpayers and JK Harris & Co failed to reply. Again, sounds like breach of contract. In January 2007, I told my offer examinar that she can contact me instead of my power of attorney with JK Harris & Co. I was doing better resolving my own tax burden since JK harris & Co did not contact IRS to stop garnishments and failed to reply to messages from the offer examinar. The reason that the offer examiar contacted my power of attorney was to correct mistakes on the OIC. The offer examinar wanted current paystubs, bank statements and expenses from the previous six months. The offer examinar was really honest with me. The offer examinar shed some light on OIC's. She told me that only 1-2% of OIC's are accepted by the IRS. Now I know why JK harris & Co does not want a client to contact the IRS. Any contact with the IRS can expose non-compliance by JK Harris & Co. It seems like that JK Harris & Co really does not care for a majority of clients and rather give them a runaround. A lot of clients had more tax debt (more interest, late penalties) after hiring jK Harris. As a total, Clients saw their tax debt grow after hiring JK Harris & Co. I say that a few, less than 10%, saw their tax debt eliminated thru OIC. JK harris & Co produced more tax debt for its clients than it saved thru OIC's. Seems like JK harris & Co fails to communicate with the IRS. By not contacting the IRS for taxpayers facing wage garnishments, JK Harris & Co is not acting in compliance (breach of contract). Jk Harris & Co could have told the client to go to the local IRS office and fill out a form to stop the IRS from garnishing wages. To make matters worst, JK Harris & Co will tell you not to contact the IRS as it will break the power of attorney. The client gets screwed as JK Harris does not contact the IRS to stop a wage garnishment before it is levied and tells the client not to contact the IRS. THe offer examinar left numerous messages with my power of attorney at JK Harris & Co and no responce whatsoever. This caused delays in my OIC. Other delays were caused by lost or misplaced paperwork by JK Harris & Co. A tax resolution firm should act in the best interest for its client but not JK Harris & Co.

JK Harris pays consultants $45,00 per yera plus bonus, which is based on average appointmnt volume, including NO SHOWS, and no sales from people who should have never been scheduled in the first place. The call center gets paid I beleive 50 cents per appointment. A successful consultant(one who will not be gointg to heaven, because lies and deceit are the only way to survive here) can make a six figure income. The consultant never explained that JK Harris offers horrible benefits, if you call them that. To insure a family on a half decent policy costs around $500 per month. Vacation is one week AFTER 1 year, no accrual, two weeks after two years, and I think 3 weeks after 5 years. That I am not sure of. The 401K plan has NO MATCH from the company. I don't beleive they even have a $10,000 ploicy on employees for life insurance, once again I am not sure. Travel expenses for the consultants on the road is $75 per night, and that includes food. When I was trained, my mentoer's wife packed him food in a cooler so he could at least stay in a cockroach free hotel. When Debbie Bush came to see me, she stayed in $200 a night Marriot's. I guess management does have it's priviledges. Consultants are NOT provided with a laptop, which is required, don't pay for internet services which is needed to get your appointments and numbers, plus check your company e-mail, which they just started a few years ago. It was an act of God to get approved anyn office supplies, including the copy paper you need to print your schedules and reports. At this time, I'd like to thank Debbie Bush for firing me, as I now work for a company back in the field as I was in for over ten years, helping sick people, not taking advantage of poor, down on their luck tax deadbearts, where they give me a credit card for expenses, $150 a night for a hotel, $60 a day for food, a laptop, pay for internet, 401K from day one with a company match of 5%, an affordable PPO health plan that costs me $245/month, flexible spending account, $600 per month car allowance, plus gas, oil and filter changes, and two car washes a month. They also paid me in full for missing 4 days due the illness and death of my father, no questions asked, no paybacks, and I'd only been there three months. So, to all the unhappy JK Harris employees out there, there is light at the end of the tunnel, and better people to work for out there. Heck, holing up a "Will Work For food" sign is better than being employed by these theives.

Josh, you finally figured it out that my OIC was accepted. But you have failed to figure out why I and many others are unhappy. I am the most disatisfied customer out of them all. Let me explain why I am unhappy, Josh. JK harris & Co. had nothing to do with my OIC being accepted. Even when I got my OIC filled out by JK Harris & CO., it had mistakes. An OIC requires receipts from the previous six months but your case worker insisted on sending in receipts from 1-2 yrs ago. This caused delays as I had to fax additional receipts and documents to the IRS. The entire process took too long. It took over 2 years for JK Harris & Co to send me a completed OIC. I hired them in Sept 2004 and I got a completed OIC from JK Harris & Co in Sept 2006. Entirely way too long as I gave up on JK Harris & CO and dealt with the IRS on my own. I asked the case workers at JK Harris for help correcting a matter of over reporting of earnings with a former employer, DFAS (Army). I had four case workers working on my case and none had a clue on how to fix this overreporting of earnings which had doubled my tax liability from 12,000 to 24,000. After I had paid off JK Harris & Co in Sept 2005, I asked a case worker about getting help from one of their EA's or CPA's to help with fixing the overreporting of earnings. THe case worker responded that what I had paid jK Harris & Co, approximately $2500 plus $500 interest, was for preparing tax returns for 2004 and preparing an OIC. I am really upset with the amount that JK Harris & Co charges for its professional fees and the actual amount of work performed. I paid all this money and I cannot even get the slightest help to fix an error. In Dec 2005, I contacted DFAS (Department of Finance and Accounting Services) about how to correct the overreporting of earnings. At this point, I owed the IRS over $24,000. ITs Jan 2006, I finally contacted DFAS and they send me corrected W2's for 2000. I took these corrected W2's to the local IRS office along with ammended tax return, which I prepared myself. In April 2006, the IRS sends a notice of correction as to the total amount owed. With the corrections, I got the IRS to decrease my tax liability from $24,500 to $12,000. I did all this on my own as JK Harris & CO refused to help me. I did not have any confdience in JK Harris & Co to help me reduce my tax liability to the IRS. I had read many negative articles about jK harris & Co online and felt ripped off. It took JK Harris & CO til Sept 2006 to finally send me an OIC along with a $150 cashier check payable to the IRS. THE OIC contained several mistakes. The amount I owed the IRS was over $24,000 but with the ammended returns I owed only $12,000. Along with the OIC, JK harris & Co sent me receipts, bills and bank statements from the previous two years. The case worker told me to send in the older documents to the IRS. I was starting to doubt her. I did send in those receipts but I was contacted by the IRS Office examinar. She wanted documents from the previous six months. By sending in older receipts, bills and bank statements, caused me more delays. The OIC that was prepared by JK Harris & CO had an offer of $188. THe offer examinar thought this was really a low offer. In March 2007, the offer examinar calls me about a counteroffer of $6000. I had given up on JK Harris & Co as they responded slowly. I begged the office examinar to do more and she did. The IRS offer examinar in June 2007, submiited a counteroffer of $3000 to her manager for approval. ITs July 2007 and my OIC is finally approved for $3000. JK harris & Co did abosutely nothing in my OIC Getting accepted but cause delays. The IRS Offer examinar was responsible for getting my OIC accepted and not JK Harris & Co. My advice for taxpayers is to deal directly with the IRS agents. The IRS have no reason to lie to you but only to collect what you owe them. In July 2007, I get letter about class action lawsuit against JK Harris & Co. After doing some research on class action lawsuits, I decide not to participate. Josh, you are wrong on the fact that I am a member of class action lawsuit. I declined the offer to participate because I wanted to take legal action against JK Harris & Co on my own. I believe this class action lawsuit was pre-planned as an effort to settle legal issues pennies on the dollar. Josh, some of your case workers had the case of attitude when I called more than once in a 48 hour period. The case workers rarely returned calls and as a result gave up on leaving messages. If I had a qestion about my case, I would call back instead of leaving messages for the case worker. It was useless to leave a message and the case worker never returning my call. I think 48 hours is too long to get back to your client especially if JK Harris & Co is charging the client over $2000. A legitimate company would call a client back right away. Josh, I sent you an email threatening to take JK Harris & CO to small claims court. I got a reponce back within 8 hours of sending the email. I could not get that kind of responce from your case workers. Its true, your employees at JK harris do not talk to their clients and we feel very isolated. That is why there is so much anger and resentment with clients of JK Harris & Co. I felt like I did most of the work in getting my offer accepted with the IRS. THe offer examinar informed me that it is rare for the IRS to accept OICs. Most offers do get rejected. JK harris & Co uses testimonials for advertising purpose in rare cases where OIC's are accepted. Josh, do not count me as one of the satisfied customers as I am completely disatisfied. I am rather disatisfied with the whole fraudlent tax resolution industry and JK Harris & Co in particular. This whole industry is a scam just like the credit repair industry. JK Harris does both of them, tax resolution and financial recovery systems (credit repair). These industries use the "quick rich schemes". NO wonder JK Harris & Co has become the top resolution firm in the country but through some fraudlent practices. My goal is to implict some pain on JK Harris & Co thru Ripoff Report, other sites, contacting media, local members of government and taking them to small claims court. I like to thank everyone for the feedback and lets keep it up.

Please be truthful about the "Bonus" system. You know and everyone who has ever held the position of JK Harris consultant since June of 2006 knows that the bonus is based on how much money you get out of the "average" appointment. And no-shows count as appointments. Therefore, it is in the consultant's best interest to get as much money as possible out of those that do show up. You also know that the call center folks are compensated for the number of appointments that they set. So you know that you will get people coming in who may only owe the IRS less than $1,000. But you still need to get cash out of them in order to keep your job. What is the extent of your formal training in taxation? If you are like the vast majority of JK Harris consultants, it is the week you spend at HQ listening to Charlie Jones tell you how close to the line of truth vs. lie you can get without going over, Josh Baker telling you that there are a bunch of crazies out there who want to do nothing but tear down JK Harris with lies about bad service and to funnel all complaints to him, and some Regional Manager give you tips on how to frighten everyone who comes in so they can't wait to write you a check. Since you are in Kansas, I assume that you handle the Kansas City area, Topeka and Wichita. If that is the case, you are relatively new to the company and have perhaps not been there long enough to have those that you sold come back angry with the lack of progress on their cases, the merry-go-round of internal HQ folks that they have to deal with, etc. I wish you the best of luck. If you truly have the best interest of the customer at heart, and act accordingly with a conscience, you will be gone quickly just like numerous others. Don't be surprised if they are already recruiting your replacement. They don't like folks who won't drink the Kool-Aid. Why do you think that they are constantly recruiting? Check out Monster or the other job boards and have your resume up to date. And take solace in the fact that there is a great life waiting for you in the legitimate business world once this dark chapter of your life ends.

Consultant: How many times have you heard of consultants being humiliated during a conference call? It was a weekly thing with me. What is the turnover rate? As for a Financial Plan, anyone can go to a Financial Planner in their hometown, and pay nothing for it. As for bookkeeping, I would most certainly want a bookkeeper in my hometown, whose office I can get to at any time. You forgot that famous ripoff, Business Evaluation, which can be done by yourself. What's your no show rate? My mentor told me that stick it to the guy who shows up to offset the ones who don't. Debbie Bush told me the same thing also. Where do a lot of consultants come from bedsides the car business? Why, they are ex tax clients who get hired on when meeting their consultant, and of course JK Harris takes care of them. JK Harris has good intentions, does please some people, but most are unhappy, and feel ripped off and lied to. Why would a client hire JK Harris to do a negotiation of tax debt when they can do it themselves? If the consultants would only be honest and not try to suck every dime they can out of a client, so many people would not be on this website. As for the salary, it's $45k a year, plus bonus. It used to be straight commission, but the IRS put a stop to that. The IRS hates JK Harris, not for representing clients, but for walking the fine line of truth and lies, which is taught in training. Josh: Why would someone complain on this website about not getting an OIC, then you tell them after extensive research that they did, and didn't know? If true, it's because your employees don't talk to the clients.

We have extensively researched your case and feel compelled to provide a response to your complaint, as we are confused as to the source of your discontent. Our records show that your Offer in Compromise was accepted by the IRS in July of 2007. When you paid the amount the IRS settled for, this amount conclusively settled your tax debt and saved you tens of thousands of dollars in tax, interest, and penalties. The acceptance occurred prior to the start of the class action settlement, of which you were a member; i.e. not only was your debt resolved, but you were also eligible to participate in settlement proceeds. We are unclear as to why, nearly a year after your case was satisfactorily concluded, you feel compelled to post complaints on this forum? The entire reason consultants are hired is to explain how we work, give you options and ensure that you give us the required information to work your case in Charleston. (Our corporate office) Please understand that we have consultants all over the country that help people understand how JK Harris can help and what we need to complete the case. Consultants are also there to assist if any problems should arise that the clients do not understand or if a client needs help gathering information to prepare their resolution. People are just unaware of what the consultant is actually doing...we are not "working" their case, but helping the client make a decision as to what resolution method is appropriate for their unique situation. I guess the bottom line is this...WE HELP PEOPLE EVERYDAY!!! I sleep at night just fine because I tell the client the truth and most of them still hire my company to represent them and set up an agreeable resolution for them even though it may not be an OIC. Please relax the comments about JK Harris consultants because we do help people...THANKS!!!

If somebody has a debt situation with the IRS, it would seem they should consult with a Tax Attorney, a CPA, or an Enrolled Agent. These three professionals are authorized to represent taxpayers before the IRS. That this company is using salespeople, case workers, or 'consultants' tells of their lack of credibility. Any Enrolled Agent (often former IRS agents) would review your situation, advise you of your chances for having an offer accepted, and charge you their hourly fee after agreeing on an action plan suitable for you. Is the employee that responded an EA? CPA? They did not seem to be a tax professional by their lack of IRS knowledge of protocol. My suggestion to all: if you need representation before the IRS, seek out a pro (tax attorney, CPA, or Enrolled Agent). All have appropriate credentials to show you. If they call themselves a consultant, leave and call a real professional.

Ok Knowsbetter...I get paid a very generous base salary that is almost 2x the average income in Kansas. My bonuses are based upon client retention and of course... sales volume the same way a doctor gets paid for writing prescriptions of a certain type of pill. It is not a pot of bonus money...or a ranking system, but a true bonus system based on clients contracted and clients retained. Retained means that did not cancel for whatever reason...I think JK Harris has a fair compensation plan as well as fair pricing to its clients. I think JK Harris has put together a great compensation plan that is in the clients interest as well as the employee. I turned away 2 people today that we could not help because financially it did not make since for them...so we do tell the truth to everyone that comes in...almost EVERYONE in America needs a Financial plan and almost all business owners could save money by hiring us to do their accounting for a very reasonable fee... However, you are correct that any client can do what we do just like anybody can paint their home...but I will not paint my home, instead I will hire a proffesional painter to do it ...the same way anyone with a tax problem should hire JK Harris to resolve their tax issue. Please save the hostility...JK Harris is a great place to work and if a client has a relationship with their consultant, provides ALL pages of requested documents, and stays in compliance...They will be completely satisfied clients!!! As long as you are being "truthful", why don't you tell us how you do get paid. Unless something has changed since I was there, you get a base salary which is hardly enough to live on. Then there is a pot of bonus money that is divided up each week based on how high the average revenue amount was per appointment that you had. And no-shows counted as an appointment, so you needed to get as much as you could out of those that did show up. Hence the several hundred dollar charge to request the clients Master File from the IRS. The fact remains that any taxpayer can do anything with the IRS that JK Harris charges to do on their behalf. JK harris has no magic bullet, just scare tactics to make the unsuspecting client think they might.

If JK harris & Co is so legit, than it should offer a me a position. JK Harris & Co will not do that because than I can really blow the whistle. Also, JK Harris & Co acts like loan sharks as they set up clients on an installment agreement with 20% interest rates. Until their balance is paid in full, JK Harris & Co will do nothing for their client. JK Harris & Co is the leader of a scam tax relief and credit repair industry. I will continue to protest outside local offices and make every attempt to embarrass JK Harris & Co in the media. IT seems like the voice and opionion of a few disatisfied are more powerful than 200,000 taxpayers that JK Harris & Co has proclaimed to help. JK harris & Co would be much better paying off a few disastified customers than to attract attention. IF JK Harris & Co has done so much good, a few complaints should not hurt them but they have. Its only my opinion and that of a few others that JK harris & Co is fraudlent. I want a refund plus treble charges. I am an employee of JK Harris and Company who has sat back while everyone cries about JK Harris and I am sick of it... I am an outside consultant that talks to prospective clients everyday. I DO help people everyday...My clients know everything about what is going to happen when they leave my office...I burst a lot of bubbles telling people that they can not resolve their tax debt through an OIC, but they still hire me to resolve through one of the many other ways available. People hire us the same way people hire painters...to fix a problem that they "could" do themselves, but just do not have the time, energy, or experience to do so...I hire painters because quite frankly I do not want to paint!!! Same thing with my clients...they do not want to deal with the IRS...so they hire us!!! My job as a consultant is to tell people the truth about what can happen with their IRS debt and have them hire us to do it... I contract many clients to set up Installment Agreements that they can live with, and not simply OIC's. Most clients have never set up IA and need assistance in getting these agreements set up for them so that they can afford to pay the debt off over time. I DO NOT get paid commision on what I contract clients for...so lets get that straight right now!!! I have many clients that I have personally helped over time that still send me Thank You cards for the assistance I have provided. I explain to all my clients that an OIC is not a sure bet and is a difficult procedure... ALL of my clients understand this...so please save the crying. Also, If your OIC is rejected we go out of our way and do EXTRA work to put you on an Installment Agreement so I am unsure who told you differently, but your comments about JKH winning when your OIC is rejected is Bogus Info!!! As for the offices....My offices are full time and I can access them at any given time...They are NOT "one day rentals". Our industry is just like a criminal lawyer's...he/she can say all day that you will not go to jail, but when the sentencing date arrives...you go to jail....However you are not angry at those guys because they did their best. Well...We do our best and sometimes we lose...so I apologize if you feel taken advantage of because we lost, but your lawyer will not refund you his fee either after 6 months of work has been done behind closed doors that you are unable to see. Please get your facts straight prior to posting stuff on the internet about companies that you think you dislike...If you are a client then call your consultant and he/she can get you in touch with the appropriate people to resolve your issue. I am a current employee that is HAPPY with JK HARRIS and will continue helping people resolve their tax problems every day whether you like it or not!!! JK Harris is NOT ripping anyone off...So Get over the fact that you can not get away with not filing and/or paying your taxes!!! And to the ex-employees that could not cut it as a consultant because they could not figure out how to convince a client that does not qualify for an OIC to hire us to resolve their debt in another way...GET A GRIP...You lost your job, and it will not be the only one you will lose due to your attitude issues...THANKS!!!
