Well, I have to eat some crow today. I called my JK Harris rep last week, only to find out that NO progress has been made on my OIC with the State of Minnesota. He recommended 3 weeks ago that I file another OIC with the state after my first offer was declined and that he would send out the appropriate paperwork. When I asked why we were sending in another OIC when NONE of my financial situation had changed, he said "Your right". After sitting in silence for a few seconds waiting for something more substantial than just that simple answer to my assesment of this situation, I responded by asking if it would be more beneficial to represent myself with the State of Minnesota in person. He responded that it would "probably be the best thing to do"..... again, I waited for something else in addition to that response.... anything.... but no "I'm sorry" or "maybe there is something I can do" or some kind of d**n acknowlegement that they dropped the ball was to be forthcoming. So I'm on my own with the state even though they took my hard earned money with the promise that they would represent me. They have had my case for a year now. Nothing positive has happened in this time frame except that I've managed to pay off the enormous $3500 bill they gave me for their "services", by having to move out of my apartment and into my parents house. This is ridiculous. I am 36 years old and they have managed to put my life in shambles through lack of any real concern about my case. No way could more than a few hours of time been spent on helping me to resolve my tax problem, and thats a generous estimate. I suggest that anyone looking to try to solve a tax problem with the IRS contact a REAL tax attorney. JK Harris has been a complete disappointment. If they fail with my Federal tax problem and I lose my OIC on appeal, it would basically mean that I wasted over a year of my life and $3500 for absolutely nothing and that my debt will have increased in that time span thanks to the ongoing interest that the state and IRS have imposed on my tax delinquency. I've heard of other companies pulling this crap too. Some charging twice what I lost and doing nothing for the money as well. Beware of these scam artists. Hire a real attorney or risk losing everything. I don't know if I can recover from this after what they have done to me. I have lost all hope.
