In March, 2013, I had wind and rain damage done to both my house and garage roofs. I called a friend who is a roofer and was working for John Kilgore at the time. He gave me John's number and I called him to set up a meeting. He came out to assess the damage and offered to tarp both the house and garage to hold us over until the insurance adjuster could come out, assess the damage and write a check to get the project going. He then agreed to be present when the insurance adjuster came out to assess the damage as well.
He was present as was my boyfriend when the insurance adjuster was there to assess the damage. He informed me that the tarping that was already done would cost $500 and the rest of what the insurance was giving me ($1500) would be enough to start and finish the project and I would pay him the balance after he submitted the final costs to the insurance and when the insurance issued the final check to me for the last half of the cost.
When the check for $2054 was deposited into my checking account from State Farm, I inturn wrote a check to him on April 2, 2013 for $2000 to pay $500 for the tarps and $1500 for supplies to get the project started. That's what he told me to do. He cashed check # 4074 on April 3, 2013 (of which I have proof).
Since he cashed the check I have yet to see him. He has not shown up once and every text or phone call is met with either an excuse or it's ignored all together.
I have kept every single text he sent me, promising to do the work, promising to start the project, promising it would happen soon.
Six months and many empty promises later, still no Joh Kilgore. The tarps that he put on my house and garage to protect them from leaking into my house and damaging my new celing drywall are now starting to shred and blow off. Half of my house roof is now completely unprotected.
John Kilgore owes me $1500 or a new roof.
