Josh Baerman solicited me by knocking on my door. He seemed like a nice guy. Josh said he was doing some work in the area and noticed I may have roof damage from the 2012 hail storm. Josh said he was an independant contractor for two well known companies but also had his own business on the side where he could do construction work for much cheaper then the other companies could for the repairs I needed done.
Josh gave me a sob story of how hard his life has been and how he could personally use the job so he could make all the money instead of splitting with either of the companies he was an independant contractor for. I gave Josh 50% down for materials and he said he would back the next day or the day after to start on the work. That day came and he never showed. I called him several times and he never answered, he would reply by hiding behind text messages.
I called both companies who Josh stated he was an independant contractor for to try and reach him, but both people I spoke with said the same thing, he was terminated and is wanted by several municipalities for felony theft. Both companies said Josh was going around getting homeowners to write him personal checks, cashing them at their banks, and vanashing.
I am a victim and have learned my lesson not to be so trustworthy. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS GUYS ACT! He comes off as the nicest guy in the world who has been dealt bad luck, when in reality from talking to others in the construction industry who know him and the police who are looking for him he is an apparent drug addict with a long rap sheet and several kids from several different women.
WATCH OUT FOR THIS GUY, AND IT IS HIGHLY SUGGESTED YOU CALL YOUR LOCAL POLICE DEPARTMENT IF YOU COME IN CONTACT WITH HIM.
