On 4/27/09, I went on-line to order a birth certificate for my husband from the State of Washington, Stevens Co. I pulled up a series of departments & did not know what department to go to. On the right-hand side of the screen there was a listing for Birth Certificates for $19.99. I clicked on the web address of www.easybirthcertificate.com & it took me to Vital Records Assistance. You click on Birth Certificate & then add to cart & it throws you to a screen that at the top says "jts and associates". This is done thru PayPal. I completed my transaction & will be charged $19.99 on my credit card number that I provided. When the transaction was completed, it threw me back to the main web page & told me to copy & paste the web address that they provided on that screen, which then took me to VitalCheck where I had to actually request the copy of the birth certificate from the State of Washington. At the end of that process, they charged me $32.00. I have contacted PayPal, but they refuse to do anything about it. They informed me that I need to contact the company in question directly, which I will try to do, but it probably won't do me any good. Why are these companies allowed to get away with this fraud? I have certainly learned something from this the hard way.

After I entered this complaint on Rip Off Report, I was able to contact Jts & Associates AKA easybirthcertificate.com via e-mail. After a few e-mails back & forth, I have discovered that I have egg on my face. At the bottom of their main web page screen there is a disclaimer that states that they only aid a consumer to get to the proper site so that you can order what you need from the correct organization & it tells you that you will probably be charged an additional fee by them as well. Although I don't believe that this is a proper business practice, I will have to pay the $19.99 simply because I didn't read the entire page. Web users, beware, you need to read everything before you proceed.
