To Whom It May Concern:,

My name is Siryvonne and I had a bad experience at this Just Brakes location about a month ago. It hadn't dawned on me about how truly ripped off I was until I heard people at my job complain about this company.

Here is my story. Towards the end of March of this year I took my car to Just Brakes on 2653 Cobb Parkway after work. I had heard about the $99.00 deal at this company for some months. Prior to my visit at this company, my brakes needed some work. I went to Midas and Meineke in Columbus, GA to get an estimate on my brakes because they were squeaking in the front and there was a greater stopping distance on them as well. Both companies said that I needed my rotors machined and new pads. One even said that my rear wheel cylinders needed to be replaced. Basically, I had no rear brakes. I chose to go to Just Brakes so that I could avoid the problem of being ripped off. I refused to go to the previous auto repair companies because I felt like they were going to rip me off too. I had a basic knowledge of what was wrong with my car to begin with.

I took my car to Just Brakes to get it fixed and found out that I need more than the $99.00 special could take care of. I was told by a man named David and a mechanic on what was wrong with my car. The wheels and the brakes on the car were disassembled at that point. I was told about the brakes needing to be changed and the wheel cylinders as well. The problem came when they told me I needed a prop valve (or ring) that goes to the master cylinder. From what I was told by them, they could not just order this part because it belongs to a master cylinder. They had to order a brand new master cylinder for my car. I drive a 1997 Dodge Neon.

So, David attempted to call and get parts for my car. At this point, it's well after 5:00 pm. He told me that he could not get my part at first until the next day. He advised me that it would not be safe to drive my car in the condition that it was in and to leave my car there overnight. In addition, he quoted me a price to fix almost everything for about $598.21. This was a long way from the $99.00 price tag that I was actually expecting. I had a dilemma. After making some unsuccessful calls, I decided in good faith to leave my car there. David told me that the part(s) for my car would be there in 1 or 2 days. Had I been thinking at that time, I would have asked him to assemble the components on my car so I can find another place to do the job. I believe that day was a Tuesday. I went to my car to take what I needed out of my car and made sure my car alarm was in valet mode. Keep this in mind.

I believe it was either Wednesday or Thursday of that same week when I called to check on the status of my car. He told me that he didn't have my part(s) still. I came up there before the week ended and talked with David. He told me that they had to ship my part(s) because it was an out of stock part for my car. He told me it would take some days before my car would be totally fixed. I was ready to take my car somewhere else at that point. The only reason I didn't was because David was going to charge me about $300.00 for unfinished work. The wheel cylinders and rotors were all fixed. I didn't have a master cylinder. He told me that my brakes had no hydraulics on them, so they would not work. I decided to leave my car there because I was not going to pay that for unfinished work and he could have re-assembled my car days prior so I could leave. I was stuck once again. Between Tuesday and Friday, I could not get my car fixed. I finally got my car fixed on Monday, April 5, 2004. I walked up to Just Brakes from work in anticipation. I got there around 4:30 pm. I believe my car was the last one to get fixed. Before this day, David had quoted me a price of $598.21 plus tax. I was under the assumption that this would be my final price. No, it was not the final price. Now, David is telling me that the master cylinder costs more. So, the price went up to around $650.00.

I was frustrated once again and reminded him of his earlier quote. When it was all said and done, it came to $631.71. I paid for it. On top of all that, there's more. I still need my caliper pistons taken care of. He wants $250.00 for that. When they pulled my car to the front, it was about closing time for them. I noticed that on my rear wheels that the lug nuts were missing. I told him about the lug nuts and they were found and replaced. I looked in the car and found out that my chips were gone. I assumed one of the mechanics ate them and left the trash in my car. So, I approached David on more time about this incident. He told me that a rat came in my car and ate the chips. The rat even left some droppings in my car mats. So I said okay. The part that took the cake was when I realized my car alarm was not working right. It appeared someone cut the wire that controls the siren under the hood of my car.

David denied responsibility for this. I told my wife and she was furious. I decided to write this letter in hopes of a resolution. I really would like my money back for this. If I don't get any satisfaction from this, then I will forward this letter to the Better Business Bureau and beyond. I hope someone in leadership will take the time and consideration to closely look into this matter for me. Thank You

Sincerely

Siryvonne
