There is a time limit on rain checks, Its is two weeks, if your merchandise don't come in by then, you aint going to get it.Person's ordering the rain check merchandise, are probally the ones ringing you out at checkouts. This company wont hire people on the floor or up front to help costmers, do you really think their going to let them order raincheck merchandise. My suggestion to you is see the store manager to get a 20% discount on a similar item. If that don't work call 1-800-63-kmart. The offical b***h line. For every call they get goes to regional office, then the store manager gets called the next day, then you get called back and get some satafication.

Some people don't care. Those people also don't last very long at their job, especially if they're department managers. Some of us do care about our jobs, and take the time to check rainchecks, call people, do our own follow-ups (I'm writing this on my own free time, what's that say?), and actually care about our job.
Rainchecks are a tough issue... especially in PAntry. K-Mart switched suppliers twice within the past 3 months, partially because they were being screwed over on shipments promised for ad merchandise- which is most likely what you had gotten a raincheck on. Our pantry manager had rainchecks for a certain brand of paper towels, and she placed 3+ orders a week for over a month, all of which were cancelled by the vendor. A regularly-stocked DVD player that dropped in price at Thanksgiving has about 10 r/c's at our store; we just got our first shipment (after about 6 orders) since Nov 23 from that vendor. Rainchecks were checked, people were called, and they're being held.
Also, rainchecks are taken from the office and checked by the dept. manager by hand. There's no red flag that pops up as soon as you touch the itme- there isn't even anything in the inventory system to indicate rainchecks. No way to know unless you check... and that's not always the esaiest to do. (Again, especially with Pantry- uynlike some other depts., like Jewelry/Electronics/etc., the pantry manager is 'on call' to respond for the need for more register operators, and has to drop what they're doing, and try to resume it when the lines have slowed down.)
Take into acount the fact that right now K-Mart's going through transitions on a corporate level- contracts with suppliers are being checked and things are unsteady.
Check for yourself. Some people don't care. If you can't get a result from a regular associate who's in the department, ask the dept. manager. If they don't know or don't care, talk to a higher manager. Bring these thigns to their attn and they do (albeit slowly) get taken care of. Some people don't care- it's sad but true. Find the ones that do and you won't have any problems. Just treat us with respect.

K-mart employees get paid more than $5 an hour, because I get paid 7+ being only a cashier because we already do a lot and memorize a lot. It's easy work after a while, but please do NOT insult the K-mart employees. And personally, I would be more than willing to call the people and tell them when their item had come in, but they would not let me.

They filed the following rebuttal to the above Rip-Off Report:
Their email: [email protected]
Their name: Chrissy
Their relationship to the company: Consumer Suggestion
Rebuttal:
YES!! KMart is guilty of this! I never thought of it as a rip off though- just incredibly poor management and organizational issues. The left hand at KMART doesn't know what the right hand is doing.
Here's what I do, on the rare occassionas that I shop at KMart- if I am looking or something on sale, I go as SOON as the store opens on the first day of the sale. They're more likely to have the item that way.
If I DO have to get a raincheck and it is something I really want or need, I check the shelves myself once in a while. Trust me, those cashiers who are apid five bucks and hour are NOT going to use their downtime to call raincheck customers!
The thing to remember about stores like this- they offer a few items at ridiculously low prices. They're called "loss leaders." They know that if they can get you to come in and buy the portable CD player for $19.99, that you will be VERY likely at the same time to go ahead and buy a boatload of batteries and cds and accessories at their regular prices, and THAT'S where they make their money.
Grocery stores do the same thing. DO you really think they're making any money when they only charge fifty cents for a huge jar of spaghetti sauce? NO! They're going to make all their mnoney on the pasta and garlic bread and salad that you buy at full price to go along WITH the cheap sauce.
But back to the original point- yes, KMart does NOT go out of its way to tell you when your raincheck item is in, and it SUCKS!
